We have seen different kinds of anime characters and their personality throughout anime history. But what makes them interesting the most would be how they handle themselves within the different situation and their influence on the story. So we will be looking at several introvert anime characters and how they have developed throughout their anime.
For example, we have characters who are always cheerful and those who are always crazy and as we look forward to what they would do next is when most anime develop a different feel to their development compared to the usual vibe that we get from the anime. Most of the main characters in anime are introverts and would appear dumb at a glance.
But for now, let’s look at how things are for the introvert anime characters that we have come across in different anime and manga. For starters, we will look into Demon Slayer. And even though we know that we have several characters who are introverts, we will only look at the obvious ones that we have seen so far.
1. Giyuu Tomoika: Demon Slayer
Giyuu’s disposition is mostly stoic and emotionless, so it is always difficult to figure out what’s on his mind. He has also shown to have a complex with what most people ting of him, and he was shocked to find out that most people hated him. If it was not for Shinobu, he would not have found this out and would still remain clueless.
Despite his introverted character, Giyuu managed to befriend Shinobu, and they have a good history together. He doesn’t talk much since he has trouble interacting with others which explains why he would usually keep himself a distance from others. We saw this when he was fighting Akaza, and he told him that he hates talking and wanted to keep his name to himself as names are not meant to be shared with demons.
2. Shoto Todoroki: MHA
When My Hero Academia Anime started, Todoroki Shoto appeared as a cold and aloof individual, and this was influenced by his abusive upbringing from his complicated family life. He also appeared focused and emotionless and always preferred to keep things to himself instead of hanging out with his fellow classmates. After the incident at the UA sports festival, Shoto became more sociable and kinder, and he would even go as far as developing a sense of humor.
Even though he still retains some of his distant attitudes, he managed to open up more. Especially after the provisional hero license course, and this has left him lightened up from his usual and serious demeanor. He is not quite used to socializing with others, but he comes off as dense when it comes to communicating with others. So this makes him one of the introvert anime characters that are also interesting.
3. L Lawliet: Death Note
As a world-renowned detective working on the case of the mass murderer Kira, L Lawliet is a perfect definition of an introvert. He managed to deduce that Light was Kira and used his discerning skill to prove it. He is a secretive individual and used to communicate with the outer world through his assistant. He has never shown his face to the world in person as he wanted to protect his identity.
He has appeared as an individual who always prefers to crouch rather than sit down. So he has also proven to be a very strange character, and most of his characteristics prove him to be an introvert.
4. Toge Inumaki: Jujutsu Kaisen
Toge Inumaki appears as a very quiet and distant individual, and Yuta Okkotsu usually found him to be annoying when they first met. He hides an insightful personality beneath his calm and aloof personality. In reality, he is a caring and insightful individual and usually doesn’t speak as he wants to prevent accidentally cursing people with his enchanted words.
His curse power works in one of the strangest ways as they complement his introverted character. Toge could curse people and accidentally hurt them from just talking to them. So he is always careful of what he says. At first, Toge was very protective of Panda and Maki, but once he learned about Yuta’s situation, he started opening up more to people around him. Looking at the introvert anime characters, Toge’s powers will always require him to retain some of that personality until he masters his powers to the next level.
5. Tsukishima Kei: Haikyuu
Tsukishima Kei is one of the blunt characters in Haikyuu and will often rile up his teammates because of his antagonistic nature. He also does this to most teams he faces off against, and he takes pride and relishes when his opponents find him annoying. Even though he might be intimidated by his seniors he can come off as arrogant at times and would view others as inferior to him.
His general personality is that of someone who has no interest in most things and would not do things he did not like or enjoy doing. He is very interested in volleyball, and at first, he did not put much effort even though he was passionate about it. Hirotaka appeared as a very competitive and serious character who loves gaming. It seems like this will fit him as one of the introvert anime characters as he has most of the qualities. Most time, he would not be afraid that others will find out that he is an Otaku, unlike his senpai.
He doesn’t have any problems when it comes to socializing with people, but he would keep to himself since he has little interest in others and doesn’t have many friends. Later on, he would succumb to the pressure to have an ear piercing. But it did not take long for him to regret it because he would usually prefer to be himself rather than try to fit in.

Genos would usually go to Saitama for some advice to achieve his goals of becoming stronger.
This would later have him become Saitama’s disciple and envy and rever him. Most time, he would act as a comic to Saitama when he started with his clueless antics with his variety of techniques. He takes pride in his abilities and himself, and we saw this in his battle with Awakened Cockroach when he was aggravated that he would have to use his instant adhesive Gel, which is one of the strangest things.
8. Trafalgar Law: One Piece
Law has always appeared as a laid-back and scheming character and has appeared calmly smiling in most situations. He is not eager to have a direct clash with his enemies and prefers to be patient and only act at the right moment. We saw this when he was not in a rush to enter the new world and did not like staring or being involved in commotion. Merlin is also one of the introverted anime characters, and she appears as calm and passive in her nature. We only saw her losing her calm when a situation went beyond her ability to cope, when Meliodas reverted to his previous self and when Arthur was impaled by his sword.
She is a woman of mysteries, and she is difficult to figure out. She had also expressed excitement when she heard that the commandments were free as she knew that she could gain a lot of information from their appearances, and she also took an interest in Escanor’s powers due to the many mysteries that surround it. Meliodas also expressed that Merlin takes an interest in things that are considered to be rare, as she could even use demons for her experiments.

His actions in the story revolved around him becoming the most powerful and influential criminal in Tokyo.
He also cares little about his underlings and even his superiors, and he only sees them as tools he can make use of. He would not hesitate to incriminate others and make them sacrifice their lives just so he can escape the law or if he wants to further his plans.
