Umineko’s When They Cry is a perfect horror manga to read. It’s the story of the wealthy Ushiromiya family reunion. The head of the family, Kinzo, arranged a get-together on an Island owned by his family, named Rokkenjima.
Kinzo was joined by 12 of his family members, five servers, and Kenzo’s physician on the island. The reason for the reunion was to distribute Kenzos wealth among his children because of the recent discovery of Kenzos bad Health.
But soon, the happy faces started turning red with the mysterious deaths of family members. After many incidents, it comes to their knowledge that the island Rokkenjima is cured by a witch Beatrice. The family was stuck on the Island due to a sudden Typhoon. The is nowhere to hide the murderer who was killing his victims in a way that no human ever can.
2. Tokyo Ghoul (2011 – 2018)
A ghoul is a human-like creature who feeds on human flesh to survive. One day, on a lonely street in Tokyo, Ken Kaneki was attacked by a ghoul and barely survived the attack. The shock was that the ghoul that attacked him was no other than his date Rize Kamishiro.
He gains consciousness in a hospital and finds out that he survived the attack due to an organ transplant. His bad luck, the organs were donated by a ghoul, which now makes Ken a half-ghoul himself.
His thirst for human flesh started increasing, and he started showing symptoms of a Ghoul. Eventually, he found a community of Ghouls who ran a coffee shop called Anteiku.
They teach him to live without human flesh and the rules of his new life. But now, he has to survive the wrath of CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul).
3. Highschool of the Dead (2006 – 2013)
The whole of Japan was turned into zombies due to some disease outbreak. The story of Highschool of the Dead starts from the present day when everyone gets the news of the outbreak.
A group of high school students accompanied by some nurses and others are scared to death and don’t know what to do next. With a will to survive, they launch an expedition through the city of zombies to safety.
Komuro Takashi, with his friends, is in the center of this whole mess. All their dreams and desires before are now completely turned into a need for survival. They are also accompanied by a cute dog which gives us some sense of peace among the horrifying chaos throughout the manga.
4. The Promised Neverland (2016 – 2022)
Emma, an 11-year-old orphan girl, and her 37 friends were living happily in the orphanage. They love their caretaker Isabella and call her Mom.
Isabella also takes care of the kids very well and does not restrict them much. There was only one condition to not leave the parameters of the orphanage. Emma was a very sharp kid and always aced her exams.
One day their friend Conny was taken away. Her friends were told that she was adopted by a couple. But Emma and her sibling found her body within the perimeter of the orphanage.

I am a Hero is the story of a man who was struggling with his own life until a disease named ZQN spread across the world. Hideo Suzuki was a 35-year-old guy not happy with his job, relationship, and, eventually, his life.
He fell stuck in endless cycles of this big world and didn’t find any way out. But one day, ZQN spread across the world, turning humans into zombie-like creatures. The infected were hunting and devouring humans at first sight.
From there, the Heroic life of Hideo Suzuki begins. Saving himself and finding survival along the way, Hideo Suzuki was searching for a safe place to go. After countless death matches with zombies, Hideo Suzuki and three of his companions finally make it to the top of Mt. Fuji to be saved.

6. Uzumaki (1998 – 1999)
Uzumaki is definitely a horror manga to read if you are in search of something frightening! It is the story of the small Japanese town of Kurozu-Cho and the people who live in it.
It is said that the town is cursed by a supernatural entity obsessed with spirals. The spiral cure started affecting the citizens day by day and forced people to flee the village.
Two high schoolers Kirie Goshima and her boyfriend, Shuichi Saito, started investigating the spiral curse. But they are highly affected by the curse, especially Kirie.
Her hair begins to curl into a spiral pattern which drains her life and chokes her whenever she attempts to cut it off. His boyfriend was able to save her by cutting her hair, but soon after, the whole village was destroyed in a storm conjured by the curse.

7. Ghost Hunt (1989 – 1994)
Mai Taniyama, a high school student, has abilities to see paranormal activities related to the place. He joined the Shibuya Psychic Research and started investigating Haunted places.
The horror manga is considered to be a shojo, so there is a slight angle of love too. The adventure stories of Mia and his manager Kazuya Shibuya hunting Ghosts are interesting to read.

9. Chainsaw Man (2018 – Now)
Denji was a poor guy and worked deliberately to repay his father’s debts. He worked as a Devil Hunter to earn money. Once on a mission, he was betrayed by his partner and was killed moments later. In his last breaths, he made a pact with a devil Pochita for his life.
He reemerges as a hybrid of humans and the devil, with powers far surpass normal humans. He was able to replace his body parts with chainsaws on will. Boiling with rage, he decided to take revenge and annihilate the bad devils. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, an agency to protect citizens from devils and save the world from great-scale massacres.
10. The Drifting Classroom (1972 – 1974)
This one is a psychological horror type and a typical horror manga for back then. The Drifting Classroom is the story of the school teleported into the future. A gruesome future, there are big flora and faunas, diseases, and so many dangerous creatures.
Some of the teachers went mad by facing the reality of no way back and killed many students. The remaining survivors are the sixth-grader Sho Takamatsu and his companion, joined by a Lunchroom worker Sekiya.
