31. Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

The ferocity and violence of “Elfen Lied” shocks the reader. The series has received both praise and criticism for the graphic violence and torture it depicts. The violence is a cover for serious inquiries into issues of identity, prejudice, and empathy.

The characters in “Elfen Lied” are complex and interesting. Lucy, in particular, is fascinating and tragic because she is torn between vengeance and love. Her friendship with Kouta, a young guy who helps her after she loses her memories, is both tender and heartbreaking, revealing the tragedy of violence and trauma.

Elfen Lied discusses humanity, self-definition, and power dynamics. In the show, the Diclonius are a marginalized group whose abilities pose a danger to the general populace. By reflecting on real-world concerns like discrimination and prejudice against underprivileged people, the series makes a strong statement about social justice and human rights.

The beautiful animation and vivid colors in “Elfen Lied” are a stark contrast to the film’s dark subject matter. The somber mood of the series is reflected in the score, which is hauntingly beautiful.

It is an impressive and profound animated short. As a standout among dark and adult anime programs, the series offers a riveting examination of challenging issues and well-crafted characters to viewers who can withstand its unflinching depiction of violence and brutality.

Black Lagoon, produced by the illustrious madhouse studios, is widely regarded as one of the best act-comedy anime TV shows of all time. 35. Devilman Crybaby

Devilman Crybaby

Masaaki Yuasa’s Devilman: Crybaby is a fan favorite from the Go Nagai series. Akira Fudou has always been a baby, and Ryou Asuka, his constant companion, is ruthless and competitive. Ryou and Akira were separated for a long time, but when they were finally reunited, Ryou told Akira the terrifying truth he had learned in the Amazon: the demons have been on Earth for decades.

They’ve made the transition from animal hosts to human beings as a means of survival. According to Ryou’s calculations, a human who makes it through a union with a demon will emerge as the most formidable creature on the planet. Ryou turns Akira into a Devilman in an attempt to bring a demon to a rowdy celebration.

Devilman: Crybaby’s animation and score are the game’s meat and potatoes. The general tone established by Go Nagai is maintained. This is a great illustration of a different kind of animation employed for the express purpose of gore, sex, and drugs. The scene where Akira becomes Devilman and causes mayhem at the nightclub is one of the most disturbing examples of body horror. After a few drinks, clubgoers morph into gruesome, murderous creatures with long limbs and breasts that bare razor-sharp fangs. Fans of Parasyte-a maxim-style anime who wishes it were darker would enjoy this show.

36. Tatami galaxy

Tatami galaxy

The Tatami Galaxy is adapted from Tomihiko Morimi’s story of the same name. Watashi, a college student who laments the loss of young people’s romantic and social prospects, is the protagonist here. Watashi is desperate to gain notoriety and a life partner by joining the most exclusive college club, but instead, he is saddled with Ozu, a devil of a companion he never asked for.

After consulting a fortune teller, Watashi is offered a second chance at success; each time he loses, he is transported back in time and given the chance to join a different club.

Madhouse Studio’s Tatami Galaxy has strange animation and rapid-fire speech. If you can get through the first episode, you’ll find that this goofy storytelling really makes sense in its own way. Watashi talks swiftly as if he’s trying to keep up with his inner monologue. A surreal visual concept is applied to the age-old story of a “disillusioned youth trying to make the most of his college days.” Those who like Tatami Galaxy may also enjoy this, which is also situated in the same universe but is stranger.

37. Okusamago Saitō Kaichou

Okusama ga Seitō Kaichou! in English, known as ‘My Wife is the Student Council President.’ This Anime is about a student, Hayato Izumi, who runs for student president but ends up losing against a Ui Wakana girl. Ui became the president, whereas Izumi became the vice-president. Later on, under their parents’ arrangement, he comes to know that Ui Wakana will become his fiancée and stay with him.

This Anime’s genre is a romantic comedy that contains a lot of fanservice gratification, and on top of that, it has huge comic relief. It has 2 seasons only, so you can almost complete the show in one go if you get interested.

38. Kanokon

Kanokon is a supernatural, romantic comedy, harem genre anime. The story of this genre revolves around the extremely innocent and shy first-year student Kouta Oyamada. Kouta is a new transfer student but immediately with a shy little appearance. He catches the eye of a second-year student, Chizuru Minamoto, who openly flirts with him, much to his embarrassment. On top of that, she discloses to him that he is a fox spirit. But the story spices up when Nozomu Izamori transfers to Kouta’s class, and she also happens to be a wolf spirit. She also gets a liking for Kouta. And then begins the triangle love story!

One thing about this Anime that got my attention was the animation quality and the art style. It was just so awesome that I had to include it in my list. Along with this, the fun, comic romantic, and supernatural aspect of the Anime is also pretty good.
