In the marriage, Brooke Shields is the more prominent face, but you must have seen her husband, too. Blue Laguna star has been married to Chris Henchy, who is a screenwriter and producer, since 2001. He has been seen in many TV shows and movies like The Other Guys, Land of the Lost, Entourage, and The Campaign.
Along with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, Chris was also the co-creator of Funny or Die. In March 2023, Brooke told people that laughter had been the key to her husband’s long-lasting romance.
She said he makes him laugh consistently and doesn’t take anything seriously, so she doesn’t go down in the details she used to. He just brings her out and says that they will figure it out.
Chris is a screenwriter and producer
Henchy has enjoyed success in Hollywood, similar to his spouse. He has decades of experience as a screenwriter and producer, having worked on some of the biggest comedies and films.
His credits include several successful comedy films, the sitcom Spin City, and the popular HBO series Entourage. Through the comedy duo’s production business, Gary Sanchez Productions, he also frequently collaborates with Ferrell and McKay.
This has allowed him to work on Ferrell-starring films, including The Other Guys, The Campaign, Get Hard, and The House. The website Funny or Die was also co-founded by the three of them.
Henchy has had a few brief appearances in front of the camera in some of his productions, but he loves to work behind the scenes. Shields is undoubtedly the actor in the relationship.
Their Meeting Story
In actuality, it was Shields’ dog that brought her and her future husband together. Shields recounted their initial encounter in her 2005 memoir, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression.
She thinks that the day they met in 1999, she fell in love with Chris but would never tell him that. She said she adopted an American bulldog named Darla and took her to the Warner Bros. lot gym to meet some pals.
The dog strayed while they were there, but Chris found her and returned her. He liked dogs and was a writer for a program that was filmed on the lot. He made me giggle as we talked.
Both of them got engaged in 2000
In 2000, they got engaged when they were on a vacation in Mexico. He took her for the weekend and asked her on a Saturday night. Her publicist said that she didn’t know any details, but in the end, she said yes.
When jeweler Stephen Russell of New York City made details about Shields’ ring publicly available, word leaked out about the engagement.
Both of them have two kids together
With two kids, Henchy and Shields are proud parents. In 2003, Rowan Francis Henchy was welcomed, and in 2006, Grier Hammond Henchy.
Shields penned many children’s books when her children were little, one of which was based on the endearing bond between Henchy and his daughters.
Brooke has made a show inspired by the Shields
Henchy’s previous endeavor was the TV series I’m with Her, which drew inspiration from Shields. The comedy, which debuted in 2003 and ran for one season, followed the story of a common guy named Patrick who is bitten by her dog and ends up meeting movie star Alex.
After their connection goes public, Patrick gets a taste of what it’s like to be in the limelight as the two characters begin dating.
Henchy talked about the show and his marriage to Shields in an interview with Deseret News, stating that his well-known wife is down to earth and makes every situation easy to work with.
Both of them have filmed a cooking show
Shields’s lifestyle company, Beginning is Now, and her personal Instagram account both provide sporadic windows into her personal life on social media.
Shields started an Instagram cooking series called “Brooke Don’t Cook” through her company. In honor of Father’s Day, the two prepared barbecue chicken and roasted potatoes for the show.
While they were in the kitchen, they made jokes about one another, with Henchy even scolding his wife for opening the oven before the dish was ready.
