Time Traveler is a new Manhwa released in November 2023 with a plot unlike any other. While most manhwa are focused on reincarnation and action-based plots, this manhwa takes a different route by implementing time travel into the plot. The Manhwa is off to a great start with an emotional yet entertaining first chapter, and we can hope for it to get even between in future updates!
Time Traveler Chapter 1 opens up with a backstory of the protagonist, Minho. Minho can be seen as a little girl playing hide and seek with her sister when she suddenly notices her mother near her hiding spot. Minho urges her mother not to reveal her location, and her mother agrees despite thinking that it’s a bit childish.
Minho waits for her sister while hiding, but she suddenly remembers that her mother passed away a long time ago. She rushes out of her hiding spot and finds that there’s no one except her in the house.
Recap
Minho falls to the ground and starts crying while thinking of the day her mother died. She blames herself for her mother’s death because it was her birthday. During the summer of the second year after her mom’s death, Minho gained the ability to travel through time.
The focus then shifts to some years later. Minho is now an adult working as a teacher. Minho argues with someone on her phone, and it seems like she’s having some financial issues. The kids with Minho try to ask her some questions about the place, but she ignores them because of her call.
Minho eventually gets stressed because of the call and makes a scary face, which makes all the kids cry. She cuts the call to finally do her duty as a teacher, but she still fails to make the kids silent. Minho warns all the kids that if they keep crying, then they’ll grow up to look like her, and surprisingly enough, all the kids immediately stop crying.
The Children tell Minho that Yongmin and Yejin have gone missing, so Minho immediately sets out to find them. While in a hurry to find the missing children, Minho bumps into someone, but she doesn’t even look at the person and keeps searching.
The Man whom Minho bumped into is none other than the male lead of the story, and his name is Ewan. Ewan’s friend Andy notices that Minho is searching for the kids he saw earlier, so he thinks of helping her. Ewan asks Andy not to be nosy even though Andy genuinely wants to help.
Ewan suddenly notices a colorful ball lying on the ground, so he picks it up for inspection. Ewan curiously inspects the ball, but Andy asks him to get going because people have started to gather around him(of course, all the females in the story are head over heels for the male lead).
Ewan ignores everyone and tells Andy that the ball is quite strange. Andy gets confused, and so Ewan explains that the handmade stitching done on the ball is unlike the ones currently in use, and also, the ball is in pristine condition. After giving it much thought, Ewan concludes that the ball must be at least 200 years old, and this statement baffles Andy.
Andy turns around to look at Minho, and he almost bursts out laughing. He asks Ewan to look in Minho’s direction, and the reason for Andy’s laughter becomes clear. The ball Ewan, considered to be a historical masterpiece, turned out to be just a toy made from embroidered silk.
As expected from the situation, Ewan is left beyond embarrassed, and so he decides to just return the ball to its rightful owner. Andy still couldn’t contain his laughter, which embarrassed Ewan even more.
Minho continues her trip around the exhibition after finding Yongmin and Yejin. Ewan follows Minho’s group and waits for the perfect opportunity to return the ball, but he eventually loses patience after he hears Minho wrongly describing all the things in the exhibition.
Minho then explains the history of a pot referred to as Donkeul, and yet again, she explains it wrong. This time, Ewan jumps in and corrects Minho’s mistakes, and then he returns the ball. Minho thinks that she has finally met the love of her life, so she asks for Ewan’s contact number, but Ewan gets repulsed by it.
After the embarrassing encounter, Minho and Ewan go their separate ways, but they soon meet again during a business meeting. Minho’s superior introduces her as a leading expert in art and artifact history, but Ewan laughs at this description. Ewan gets furious and labels Minho as an imposter, which shocks both Minho and her superior.
