TikTok Removes Go Young Wook’s Account One Day After Launch Following Instagram and YouTube Takedowns

Former Roo’ra member Go Young Wook has once again had a newly created social media account removed, this time from TikTok just one day after he announced its launch.

The development comes after his Instagram and YouTube accounts were previously taken down, making TikTok the latest platform to remove his account under its community guidelines.

Go Young Wook opened his TikTok account on September 27 and began sharing short videos showing aspects of his everyday life.

He also promoted the new account through his X account, formerly known as Twitter, where he told followers about his latest attempt to communicate through another social media platform.

However, the account did not remain active for long. On September 28, TikTok Korea confirmed that it had removed the account after reviewing information concerning Go Young Wook.

The platform said its decision was based on its Community Guidelines concerning individuals confirmed to have committed sexual offenses against minors.

TikTok explained that such accounts are subject to permanent suspension, along with other accounts operated by the same user.

TikTok Becomes the Latest Platform to Remove His Account

The TikTok removal follows similar actions involving Go Young Wook’s previous attempts to establish a presence on other major platforms.

He opened an Instagram account in 2020, but it was removed shortly afterward following reports from users.

Several years later, he launched a personal YouTube channel in 2024, which was also eventually deleted for violating the platform’s community guidelines.

The repeated removals have therefore prevented Go Young Wook from maintaining a presence on several major social media services.

His TikTok account lasted only approximately one day after its creation became public.

TikTok Korea specifically stated that its decision was consistent with its rules regarding confirmed sexual offenses against minors.

The company did not describe the removal as a temporary restriction; according to its statement, the relevant accounts are subject to permanent bans under the applicable guidelines.

Go Young Wook has a documented criminal conviction related to sexual offenses against minors.

In 2013, South Korea’s Supreme Court upheld a sentence of two years and six months in prison.

The sentence also included additional legal measures, including electronic monitoring and a period of personal-information disclosure and notification.

He completed his prison sentence and was released in July 2015.

Following the TikTok removal, Go Young Wook addressed the situation on X. He wrote,

“I guess I’ve become someone who can’t easily be seen anywhere anymore.”

He then discussed the possibility of changing his name and living a quieter lifestyle away from public attention.

His comments came shortly after TikTok confirmed the deletion of his newly established account.

Go Young Wook Continues to Use X After TikTok Removal

Despite the removal of his TikTok account, Go Young Wook’s X account remains active.

He has continued using the platform to communicate publicly, including posting his reaction to the latest social media development.

The TikTok incident also highlights how different social media platforms apply their own community standards when dealing with accounts belonging to individuals with certain criminal convictions.

In this case, TikTok publicly connected its decision to its rules regarding confirmed sexual offenses against minors.

Go Young Wook first became known as a member of the mixed-gender group Roo’ra, which debuted in the 1990s.

His subsequent criminal case and conviction resulted in a lengthy period away from public entertainment activities.

The latest account removal means that his attempts to establish accounts on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok have all ended with those platforms removing the accounts.

TikTok’s action came particularly quickly, with the account disappearing only a day after it was publicly announced.

For now, X remains the main social media platform through which Go Young Wook has continued to communicate publicly.

His latest posts followed the TikTok removal and focused on his reaction to becoming increasingly restricted from appearing on major social media services.

The TikTok decision therefore marks another development in the ongoing issue surrounding Go Young Wook’s presence on social media.
