The Witcher: Blood Origin release date is quite close. The series will serve as the spinoff of the famous Netflix show, The Witcher. The fantasy genre series will give us much to ponder while we wait for a brand new season of the original series.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich from the main series has come back once again to work her charm on this action and adventure series and create a brand new storyline for us to follow and understand the realm of The Continent in a better way.
The concept of the plot has been adapted from the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. In terms of when we can expect the series to be set, after or before the tales of the Geralt of Rivia, it is before.
In fact, Blood Origin is developed to set a context of the past of The Continent or a prequel, describing how magical beings such as the elves, the witches, and the witchers came into existence. Well, the show kind of lacks in the episode department because, unlike Witcher and its eight episodes, Blood Origin is only going to give us four.
This is kind of unfair, given the fact that we have been waiting for the story to return for so long, and now that it is, we are only going to get it for such a short time. Nevertheless, my therapist advised me to see things in terms of “at least” and, well, at least, we are getting something out of the show.
The Witcher: Blood Origin – Plot Details
Coming to the story of this series, you might think this is just a few generations before Geralt or Yennefer, or Ciri, but well, it is ancient. Yes, as per the official synopsis released by Netflix explaining to us everything that we can expect from the show, the first thing is that it is set almost 1200 years ago from the events of the main Witcher series.
Now, what will we actually see in this show? Well, the camera will take us to the time where The Continent first came into existence. It will show the events, such as how the first Witcher was actually made. Thereafter, there will be scenes telling us more about the Conjunction of the Spheres.
The one thing that struck the fans in the original Witcher series is the elves. It was briefly described that the civilization was quite dominant in the past but actually died out through the years. This series will take up the same issue, and we will witness the Elven culture in its full glory.
The one thing that is actually making me really sad is the fact that the show is just a miniseries. I mean, we will not be able to get more episodes of it. But well, if Netflix analyses that the show is actually doing great, who is going to stop them from making new episodes? Not me.
