The Uncanny Counter is a Comedy Supernatural Drama by director Yoo Seon Dong, which was one of his bigger hit dramas. The Season 1 of The Uncanny Counter aired from November 28, 2020, to January 24, 2021, with a total of 16 Episodes.
The drama was originally adapted from a webtoon called webtoon Amazing Rumor by Jang Yi. The story is centered on a conservative, shy high school student who suddenly, one night, gets superpowers and becomes one of the members of the evil spirit hunter gang.
Now talking about the cast, well, one of the reasons for the major hit of Season 1 was the best cast. The cast was perfect in giving out the true characters of their role in the drama. For the main cast the lineup is the same, Jo Byeong-kyu as So Mun, Yoo Jun-sang as Ga Mo-tak, Kim Se-Jeong as Do Ha-na, Yeom Hye-ran as Chu Mae-ok and Ahn Suk-hwan as Choi Jang-mul. The Uncanny Counter Season 1: Synopsis
The Story of The Uncanny Counter starts with So Mun, who lost his parent at a very young age, and now he is a very timid high school student with a memory of his parents.
He is a victim of a bully in his school, and his life is just worse. But one night, he felt something strange in his body, and he woke up only to find that he was a part of “Counter” and had special abilities.
Now talking about Counter, they are human beings with special powers who are given the task from the superior of catching all the evil spirits descended to earth to destroy mankind. So Mun was the head of the Counter stream since he had the most powers and ability.
So Mun and his other four members Ga Mo-tak, Do Ha-na, Chu Mae-ok, and Choi Jang-mul, disguise themselves as an employee of the Noodle Shop to hide their true selves from the world.
After becoming a counter So, Mun’s character and emotions will be more developed as he gets into contact with lots of heartfelt stories of evil spirits. However, So Mun also hopes to find the truth about how his parents died. And on finding out the truth, he realized all of the incidents were intervened with his fellow counter members.
Whereas each Counter member has their own story to tell on how they become Counter and what made them qualified to be a Counter. The plot and screenplay of the drama keep the audience on the hook till the end. However, after 12 episodes of Season 1, the story felt a little twisty because the first writer dropped. But still, the new writer managed to end the drama very well till the end.
The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Plot
In Season 2, the story will continue with Counters catching the immortal spirits that arrived on Earth. But some new characters are added too, such as Na Jeok-bong, a new clumsy Counter joining the team, Pil Kwang, third-level psychotic evil, and Gelli Berherd, a third-level demon specializing in speed.
Her attacks are so fast that no one can even see. Ma Joo-Seok, who is fond of So Mun and tries to help him in all possible ways as he can’t stand injustice at all.
