The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 Recap
Nothing beats a cutesy rom-com to make our hearts skip a beat, and we’ve got plenty of those with the new Prime Video series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Belly & Her Love Life
The story’s main conflict revolves around Belly’s love life. She has three guys who adore her. While she considers her prospects with each of them, she must also confront the changes that have occurred in those around her. She hopes to begin her love story with Conrad Fisher this summer as she approaches the age of sixteen. When she gets to the beach house where Belly and Conrad’s families spend the summer together, she notices that Conrad has changed. He’s not being his usual sweet self.
Instead, he is detached, aloof, and occasionally rude. Belly decides to move on after having pined for him for so long. Conrad has a distinct personality from the start. He is dropped the goofy glasses, acts distant and moody, smokes marijuana, and is dating a debutante. All of these changes cause Belly to question her feelings for him, even calling him a hypocrite.
On top of that, Conrad has left college football and is unsure of his future. Conrad is left moping around the house, uninspired, while Jeremiah and Steven find work for the summer. This is when she comes across Cam. But things become complicated when Conrad’s brother, Jeremiah, expresses his desire for more from their friendship. She walks with Jeremiah, who has always been kind and honest to her. She kisses Jeremiah after he confesses his feelings for her. While she adores Jeremiah and considers him to be her best friend, but you never know what the future has got for them. Belly has remained in love with Conrad throughout this time.
Belly’s 16th
She is overjoyed at her birthday party when she receives her final gift from the mother, the white gown she has always wanted, and she is free to drive herself to the country club where the ladies are getting ready for the big night. Conrad has just enough time to wish her luck in Jeremiah and sneak in one last kiss on her way out. Sadly, Steven notices it and yells at his younger sister.
Meanwhile, Steven confronts Shayla (whom he loves) with the shocking truth about the poker night. He’s spent the money he’d been saving all summer and now doesn’t have enough for a tux. Shayla is taken aback and eventually offers him money, which he declines. Steven does not want to miss the big night and eventually agrees to wear her father’s old tuxedo as a compromise.
The Big Night
Susannah, on the other hand, is overcome by emotion as the ball approaches. After all, this is a bittersweet night for the mutter, who is battling cancer and a barrage of emotions. It will be her last summer with everyone. The crew is ready to have a good time.
Despite the fact that it is an adolescent show aimed at a juvenile audience, the series has had some fairly tangled and deceptive morals throughout. The debutant event is in full swing, and the debutants are being introduced to the audience.
Meanwhile, Cleveland confides in Laurel that Conrad is aware of Susannah’s cancer. Jeremiah is nowhere to be found at this point; he has just learned of Susannah’s cancer and is distraught. Conrad, on the other hand, seizes the opportunity and dances with Belly. At the ball, they fight after Jeremiah discovers Conrad was aware of Susannah’s whereabouts and did not even care to inform him once. He is broken with the news and his full of emotions. Everyone is aware now after Susannah’s deteriorating health because of cancer. Belly realizes she’s been focusing on the wrong things all along, and tears flow. Everyone has been devastated!!
Susannah’s Decision
Susannah and her sons return to their beach house after the debutante ball. Conrad and Jeremiah both beg Susannah to undergo treatment during their emotional heart-to-heart. Susannah, who believes she will not recover, refuses to go through the stress and pain of the treatment, crying. Her sons repeatedly try to persuade her to reconsider. Susannah finally agrees and decides to seek treatment for her sons.
The First Love
Belly, on the other hand, understands because she now knows he was disturbed by his mother’s condition. Finally, in the final scene, Belly and Conrad sit on the beach the morning after. Conrad is relieved that the case is being pursued, and he apologizes to Belly for not informing her sooner.
Conrad expresses his desire to say more to her, but Belly stops him. She claims she does not want to exploit him because he is so vulnerable. Conrad, on the other hand, finally admits to Belly his feelings for her and tells her he wants her. They smiled at each other and kissed. Belly remains faithful to her first love.
The Summer I Turned Pretty S2 Expected Cast
So even though Belly remains the main character in the book trilogy, the TV show’s lead, Lola Tung, will most likely continue to focus in its second season. Conrad and Jeremiah, played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, are the brothers vying for her affection. These three are essential to the show’s existence, so expect them all to return.
Jackie Chung, who plays Belly’s mother Laurel, and Sean Kaufman, who plays her brother Steven, are also expected to return. Conrad and Jeremiah’s father, John, will most likely become more involved in the central plot in the upcoming season.
Finally, since this sequel book is predicated on Rachel Blanchard’s character Susannah contracting an illness, it’s fairly likely that she’ll appear in the upcoming season.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Plot
The TV show is based on Jenny Han’s novel The Summer I Turned Pretty. Let’s just say that Belly and Conrad’s romantic ending from season one doesn’t last long. As a result, we can expect to see more love between the two leads.
More love-triangle drama can be expected if Season 2 closely follows the sequel book. In the sequel, Belly is uninterested in summer, Conrad is distant, and Susannah becomes ill. In fact, it isn’t until Jeremiah informs Belly that Conrad has simply vanished that Belly realizes she needs to return to her Cousins Beach beach house and try to mend their relationship. And it appears that this love triangle is about to become even more complicated.
However, everyone out there is immensely excited to witness all the love, chaos, and everything in the next season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
