The Rookie was a huge hit with viewers when it debuted back in 2018, and that is still the case as it prepares for its upcoming fifth season. The series centers on John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), a construction worker in his mid-40s who chooses to make a significant shift in his life by relocating to Los Angeles and joining the LAPD. We’ve gotten to know and care for many of the series’ characters throughout the previous four seasons, and there are still plenty more to meet!
The Rookie: Feds, a brand-new spin-off series that got a backdoor pilot during the parent show’s previous season, is about the FBI this time, and its launch is rapidly coming. More notably, Niecy Nash’s portrayal of Simone Clark, a late-40s-old rookie. We will see Simone’s first steps as a new FBI agent, quite similar to its sister series with John.
The Rookie: Feds will center on Simone Clark, an FBI agent who joins the agency at the age of 48 following a lengthy career in education. The Rookie’s episodes 19 and 20 from season 4 introduced Simone to the audience.
The Rookie Feds: Official Trailer Is Out!
After several teasers over months, The Rookie: Feds’ official trailer has finally arrived. It doesn’t reveal too much about the plot or the other important characters, but it does indicate how the “world” of The Rookie is growing and becoming more interwoven. In a couple of amusingly brief sequences, John Nolan picks Simone up from LAX, and we also see him helping the FBI with a case.
Aside from introducing us to new individuals we’ll soon come to know, the teaser also shows us the main FBI office area and familiar faces from the backdoor pilot, including Felix Solis as Matthew Garza. The teaser for this new show shows that it will be similar to The Rookie in that it will combine comedy, drama, and action to keep us captivated each week.

The Rookie Feds Episode 1 Streaming Guide
If you don’t catch an episode as it airs or choose to watch it later, fresh episodes will be accessible on Hulu the next day. If you would like to catch up or re-watch The Rookie, all four seasons are also available!
The first season of The Rookie: Feds will likely consist of an undetermined number of episodes. Six episodes are listed in total on IMDb, with the potential season finale (assuming this episode count is correct) scheduled to air on Tuesday, November 1. ABC is probably waiting to see how many viewers and what kind of reviews the new show will receive. Depending on these numbers, the network may be persuaded to purchase more episodes, either for a longer first season or possibly a second season.

Although Matthew co-starred with Simone and Cutty in the backdoor pilot, we don’t know much about his background with the FBI or outside of its day-to-day operations. New characters that weren’t present in the backdoor pilot include Special Agent Laura Stensen, played by Britt Robertson.
Special Agent Brendon Acres is portrayed by Kevin Zegers. Similar to Simone, Kevin recently finished his FBI rookie training after working as a professional actor for many years. James Lesure portrays Special Agent Carter Hope, a model FBI agent who joined the organization following a successful legal career.
