In The Patient Episode 10, Sam will progress toward his goals due to an unexpected decision. But on the other hand, Dr. Strauss wants even more. The Patient is the newest FX show made for Hulu by the team behind The Americans. It features an incredibly out-of-character Dr. Alan Strauss, a therapist who is kidnapped by Sam, one of his patients, and a serial killer who begs Alan’s help in curing him.
The exchange that follows is tense as Alan and Sam get to know each other in a dangerous situation. Can Alan stop Sam from killing once again? Will Sam target Alan with his rage? Over the next two weeks, we’ll be looking for answers to these crucial questions.
The Patient Episode 9 Recap
Before diving into The Patient Episode 10, let’s quickly do a recap of the previous episode. In The Patient episode 9, Alan tried to carry out a plan for freedom, but his hesitation just made things worse and might have led Sam to commit another murder.
Then, after waking up Viktor Frankl in his imagination, Alan came to a certain understanding of relationships and meaning. Sam was given this information, and he was told to invite Mary over for brunch.
Alan had a nanny cam set up to record the brunch while he offered Sam relationship advice. It was actually a ruse for Alan to stab him with the foot cream tube that had been sharpened. But when the time came, Alan couldn’t risk jeopardizing Mary’s life. Sam mentioned his father’s abuse over the brunch, so Alan tries to concentrate on that aspect instead, assuming Sam is killing others rather than his father.
Sam interprets this incorrectly and concludes that killing his own father will put an end to his desires after being inspired by Edmund Kemper, the co-ed killer. Now we will discuss when will Episode 10 of The Patient will release and what will happen in it.
The Patient Episode 10 Release Date & Preview
The Patient Episode 10 will release on 25 October 2022 on FX. There are a total of 10 episodes scheduled, so it seems like this will be the final episode of this season. The Synopsis of this Episode 10 is as follows: “Sam will make a surprising choice that shows his progress toward his objectives, but Dr. Strauss demands something more.” This episode has yet to be given a title, which is inconsistent with the rest of the season.
Are they hiding it because it could be a spoiler? I believe we can infer from the Synopsis above that Sam’s “unexpected decision” is either killing his father or possibly unintentionally making amends with him. I lean toward thinking the latter. Sam will go after him and attempt to murder him while becoming entangled with him in some way, thinking that this is important to his recovery.
Now that he has learned he won’t be able to use physical force to free himself, Alan’s “demanding more” seems to me like an attempt to manipulate Sam more explicitly. The cream tube has received so much attention so far that its employment, in conclusion, seems inevitable, though how is still unknown. Maybe Candace will use it against Sam, and I know this is a wild guess.
In the tense chamber piece that follows, Alan and Sam learn to know one another while facing their greatest dangers. Can Alan stop Sam from killing once more? Will Sam target Alan with his rage? Over the course of the upcoming week, we’ll be looking for answers to these important questions.
