The 2022 Critics Choice Award-winning short format HBO Max series The Other Two’s third season keeps giving laughs as we explore the life and woes of Cary, Brooke, and their younger brother.
Cary is a gay actor trying to make it in the entertainment world, Brooke is an unemployed professional dancer, and their brother is an influencer who had a meteoric rise to fame, and that creates tension and lots of comedic opportunities in this show developed by Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider that initially aired on Comedy Central and was later grabbed by HBO as part of their bet on half-hour scripted comedy shows.
As the episodes of the third season slowly make their way into our screens, we see how Brooke is dealing with a job crisis, seeking to work for a congresswoman only to be snubbed by their aides. Cary is looking for more relevant parts and inspiration to deliver his current part as a lawyer. The show has a lot of cameos, like from Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipkan and Lukas Gage. Now, let’s see what the upcoming episode has to offer.
The Other Two Season 3 Episode 5 Recap
We kick off with Pat and Streeter telling Cary and Brooke that they broke up because they’re not eye to eye and their relationship hit rock bottom, which is funny because the way Streeter is telling this is as though Cary and Brooke were kids and they’re in their thirties, he goes on by telling them that he’s giving them a room in his new house, you know? All those things that divorced parents tell their kids. After that, Lance falls asleep during a theatre play, and Brooke is trying to give Shuli and Streeter tips on how to deal with Chase as he’s dating now.
Brooke is having a bit of an identity crisis. She’s not sure of what she wants, she drifted trying to find a job working for woke congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez but was made by someone else think that her future is elsewhere, and now she has to deal with Lance glowing about how he chose to do whatever makes Lance happy at the moment. It’s not fair to blame Lance, though, he’s looking for someone, and in that quest, he wants to find love. In any case, Brooke wants to move on, and considering this episode was almost entirely centered around her, we’ll likely see how this fares out for her in the rest of the season.
