The Oblivious Saint Can’t Contain Her Power is based on the light novel written by Almond with illustrations by Yoshiro Ambe. It was initially serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, running from 2020 to 2023, before being acquired by Earth Star Entertainment, which published four volumes under its Earth Star Luna imprint.
Fans can read the complete English version of The Oblivious Saint Can’t Contain Her Power light novels through J-Novel Club. The series also received a manga adaptation by Yona Etō, which has been running on the Comic Earth Star website since April 2022.
The Tale of a Saint Who Doesn’t Realize Her Own Strength
The story revolves around Lady Carolina, the younger daughter of a powerful noble family who has always been overshadowed by her elegant elder sister, Flora. Carolina is sent to marry Prince Edward, a prince feared for his ruthless reputation. She expected the worst but was surprised to find kind people who welcomed her. At the same time, Carolina remains unaware of her incredible hidden powers, which keep revealing themselves without her knowledge.
The story mixes classic “villainess” tropes with lighthearted fantasy comedy, making it a fun and wholesome experience. It has already become popular with fans of the light novel series. Now, the anime adaptation brings this world to life with a production designed for a strong debut.
A Skilled Production Team Behind the Anime Adaptation
Animation is being handled by Magic Bus and Picante Circus, with Mitsutaka Noshitani serving as director. Tōko Machida is writing the series scripts, Taihei Nagai is responsible for character designs, and SUPA LOVE is composing the music. Noshitani previously directed The Strongest Tank’s Labyrinth Raids, while Machida has credits on titles including 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy.
The voice cast for the core trio was confirmed early on. The anime stars Rie Takahashi as protagonist Carolina, Makoto Furukawa as Prince Edward, and Haruka Shiraishi as Flora. Takahashi is widely known for roles such as Megumin in KonoSuba and Emilia in Re:ZERO, making her an ideal fit for a lead character who is simultaneously powerful and completely unaware of it.
Supporting roles have been filled out in subsequent announcements. Shunichi Toki joins the cast as Theodore, while Inori Minase voices Melissa. Further additions include Nobuhiko Okamoto as Owen Klein and Atsushi Tamaru as Gilbert Ruby Martinez. Okamoto, recognizable to anime fans for roles such as Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia, voices Owen Klein, described as the knight who protects Carolina.
Theme Songs Officially Confirmed: “Windmaker” and “Unknown Me”
The anime’s musical identity has been fully revealed across the promotional campaign. The opening theme song is “Windmaker,” performed by Kaya, and the ending theme song is “Unknown Me,” performed by Utahime Dream All Stars.
Utahime Dream All Stars comes from the Utahime Dream mixed media project, and the performers for the ending theme consist of Hikari Mizutsuki (voice: Karin Isobe), Rin Takagi (voice: Tomomi Jiena Sumi), Himawari Hagiwara (voice: Reo Kurachi), and SAKURAKO (Yume Takeuchi). The group’s connection to the broader Utahime Dream multimedia franchise adds an extra layer of promotional synergy to the anime’s rollout.
