Anya Taylor-Joy also appears in The Northman as Olga. He is a character who assists Amleth in his quest for vengeance. Taylor-Joy has worked with Eggers before. He acted in films like Last Night in Soho and the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. Her breakout performance in The Witch was her first.
Ethan Hawke plays King Horwendil. Willem Dafoe plays Heimir the Fool. Claes Bang plays Fjölnir, and Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Hafór Jlus Björnsson (as The Mountain on Game of Thrones) and actor/musician Björk round out the cast.

When did the “The Northman” Release in Theatres?
On Friday, April 22 in the United States and Friday, April 15 in the United Kingdom, “The Northman” was released exclusively in theatres. Focus Features is distributing the picture in the United States. And Universal Pictures is distributing it overseas. Earlier, the film was supposed to be released on April 8, 2022.
The Northman Streaming Release Date
We don’t know when The Northman will be available on a streaming service. Although we do know which platform the film will be available on. According to the film’s official website, “The Northman” will be available on Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, and YouTube and it will also be available to on-demand service providers such as Xfinity, Verizon, and Spectrum. The good news for fans, the film is currently accessible on demand through retailers such as Apple, Amazon, and Movies Anywhere as of May 13.
There’s no word on whether the film will be available on streaming services like Netflix or HBO Max in the future. Though fans shouldn’t hold their breath because Eggers’ prior works aren’t currently available on any of those platforms.
Because Focus Features is owned by Universal Pictures, “The Northman” will most likely be available on Peacock, Universal’s streaming service, once the theatre window has closed. Universal Pictures, Focus Features’ parent company, announced in December 2021 that The Northman would be available on streaming service Peacock 45 days following its theatrical release. That means The Northman could be available for streaming as early as June 6, while this is simply an estimate at this time.
