The Newsreader Season 2 Episode 2: Recap
This first season of the show, The Newsreader, was set in 1986, and this brand new second season kicks off in the year 1987. As we saw, Helen struggled with the outright misogyny of her male colleagues, with her mental health paying a heavy price.
While we thought that everything had gone to hell for her, thankfully, she managed to find some comfort in Dale Jennings, who also works at the same news house as Helen, News at Six, as a junior reporter. The two are romantically involved, starting off their relationship secretively at first but eventually coming out as a couple.
Season two starts with Dale and Helen’s office romance getting accepted by their fellow workers and them even getting the title of the Golden Couple of News at Six, despite all of their worries. While their boat continues to sail, overcoming all of the rocky waves from the previous season, Geoff Walters seems to have become a tiny bit more unhinged.
He has made a comeback this season, back in the news game once again after having switched teams and moved to a rival news network. He had worries that he would be left behind or would lose his influence in the field, and in hopes of maintaining the same, he seems to have partnered with an equally powerful newsroom.
