La noche más larga, another name for “The Longest Night,” may be the next Netflix smash from Spain. Netflix has flooded its library with Spanish-language programming to duplicate the massive popularity of “Money Heist” in recent years. But up until now, the results have been largely neutral.
The Longest Night has all the necessary components to become the hottest streaming title if it can overcome its embarrassingly weak marketing strategy. High-octane action and engrossing intrigue combine flawlessly in this show. A brilliantly balanced, binge-worthy series, “The Longest Night” leaves you wanting more by the end of the first season. Here is all the information you require regarding it.
Recap of The Longest Night’s First Season
Simón Lago, commonly known as The Alligator, a serial killer, was apprehended on Christmas Eve, marking the start of the television series. He is sent to Baruca Hill Psychiatric Correctional Facility, jail, and mental health facility, instead of a maximum-security facility. Hugo Roca (Ammann), the warden or director of Baruca’s prison, and the rest of the staff are taken aback by this. Hugo’s plans to have supper with his three kids, Laura (Maria Caballero), Guille, and Alicia, are derailed, causing Laura to flee to her mother’s house in a rage. However, her siblings’ consent to accompany their father so they can all eat dinner in Hugo’s office.
Hugo receives a video from Laura’s phone not long after his staff has helped him secure Simón in jail. He is told not to turn over Simón if he wants Laura, who has been kidnapped, to survive. Hugo confronts Simón about it just as a bunch of armed men shows up. To shut off Hugo from giving them Simón, they disrupt phone communications, reduce the power supply, and isolate Baruca from the outside world.
Hugo
Hugo is forced to make a difficult moral and ethical decision between his daughter and the others who work for him and are in his care. Simón and his unidentified helper’s assessment of Hugo turn out to be accurate in the end. His daughter is his choice. Prisoners, staff personnel, and patients inevitably perish when violence breaks out. Eventually, Hugo and his followers learn that the assailants are cops.
Red and Green Blocks are the two sections of Baruca, with the Red Block housing the more violent and unpredictable convicts. The two blocks are connected underneath as well as via conventional paths. Hugo and his men prepare for the last stand in the season finale as the assailants draw near. In addition, he must act quickly to provide Laura’s captors with evidence that Simón is still alive. In the meantime, Manuela, an inmate, learns that Cherokee, another convict, who she claims sexually assaulted her, lied to her and didn’t kill Dr. Espada. Dr. Elisa Montero, a psychiatrist who is romantically involved with Hugo, is where Guille and Alicia hide. They are discovered by one of the attackers, but Simón kills him.
The Longest Night: What Happened In The End?
The season finale leaves viewers with more unanswered questions than it does resolved ones. The supposed kidnappers of Laura, Rosa and Andrés, are shown in a framed photo with Hugo and the enigmatic man with long hair in one of the episode 6 finale sequences before the camera shifts away from them. Lennon (José Luis Garca Pérez), the leader of the Baruca attackers, has been in touch with the latter frequently to remind him of what is at risk.
Rosa and Andrés don’t know who Simón is, we learn throughout the story. They too, are the victims of a complex scheme, like Hugo and Laura. The season finale reveals that Valentina, Rosa and Andrés’ own daughter, was taken by whoever is operating in the background to coerce their cooperation. This raises the issue of why they were picked for the position and nobody else.
The picture is prominently displayed amid family portraits, demonstrating Rosa and Andrés are familiar with Hugo. When he phones to give the coded message (“Valentina is Waiting”) to show that Simón is still alive, they don’t seem to know that Laura is his daughter or to recognize his voice. In actuality, Hugo doesn’t even recognize them. There is a chance that they are acquainted on the job because of the long-haired man in the picture. This implies that either Rosa or Andrés work in law enforcement or both do, at the very least, hold a position in the government.
How is Simon Lago Being Aided?
Lennon confronts Hugo just as the police show up, blaming him for all the fatalities. Hugo points out to Lennon that he executed three prisoners very early. Even if he pondered the possibility of speaking to Lennon about his daughter’s kidnapping, he just couldn’t trust him. Hugo further states that when he eventually got through to the emergency services, he alerted them that an armed group was attacking Baruca. He didn’t reveal that they were hunting for Simón and that they were officers. So, if Lennon and his team want to get out, they need to negotiate with him.
Lennon and Hugo think that Simón has been receiving assistance as the episode comes to a close because no one anticipated that he would be relocated to Baruca. So, there is another one in the show, working with Simón towards an opposing conclusion from that of Alejandro Tous’ character. We never see them but hear their garbled voice over the phone. They are probably the reason the serial killer ends up in Baruca, as Simón receives a picture of Hugo on his phone just before he is arrested. This implies that they are also members of the armed forces or government employees.
