Directed by Andy De Emmony, The Larkins is a warm and wholesome show revolving around a family residing in the scenic countryside of Kent, England. With viewers loving the calm and slow-paced nature of the series, it was renewed for another season in October 2022. Larkins is a fictional family based on a novella titled “The Darling Buds of May” which is authored by H.E. Bates and actually had another show based on it in 1991.
The Larkins, the most recent adaptation, was first seen on television on October 10th, 2021. It was a short series with only 6 episodes and a Christmas special episode being aired later last year. The story of season 1 revolved around Mariette and her husband Charley, who was schemed into marrying her but both of them develop true feelings in the process.
In Season 2, The family goes through another problematic ordeal when a new family moves in next door. This season we won’t be seeing much of Mariette as she seems to be on Honeymoon with Charley. Filming of the show continues to take place in various locations in Southern England.
The Larkins: The Actors Behind the Lovely Family
One of the many reasons the shows much loved by its audience is the skilled actors, who make it seem as if The Larkins is a reality Show instead of a fictional one (aside from the fact that it’s set in the 1950s). The plot is realistic yet pleasant and has the perfect pinch of drama which adds to the many things the show brings. The cast of the show consists of:
Bradley Walsh As Pop Larkin:
