Recap Of Episode 6 Of The L Word Generation Q S3
They all had hallucinations during the retreat that featured songs, dancing, and the typical kitsch of a musical episode. However, not all of their dreams are dances and melodies. In Shane’s imaginative story, she is a local sailor who goes to Dana’s to meet Tess, a beautiful singer, in a wonderful journey set in the 1940s.
After a tremendous dance performance, Shane is forced to face the fact that she is a dedicated gigolo. Multiple ladies are pursuing her after her vision, and she must decide whether to leap off a rooftop to meet Tess in a parked car or decide to assume the identity she has always used.
She leaps just as she begins to feel the effects of the ayahuasca. Once she returns to LA, she rushes straight to Tess to let her know she is prepared to give up her name and start a new life with her. Tess breaks the news that her mother, famous beauty queen Betty, has passed away while breaking into tears.
The real challenge of Shane’s newfound resolve will be trying to support Tess throughout her grief. Within Sophie’s imagination, she plays a 1950s homemaker in the comedy Finley’s House. Finley, who portrays the archetypal controlling male of that time, constantly finds methods to silence Sophie throughout the vision.
Finley informs Micah & Maribel, Finley’s employer, and his spouse, who appear as Micah and Maribel in the vision, that Sophie suffers from laryngitis and cannot talk. There are several ongoing jokes that all leave Sophie speechless.
Sophia discovers through her vision that her love for Finley is suffocating her. Sitcom With the help of a song, Sophie eventually finds her voice but instead escapes free. As a visual metaphor of her transformation after discovering her true voice, the view changes from black and white to color when she concludes the song.
She splits up with Finley once she gets back to Los Angeles, and Finley is taken aback by Sophie’s admission that she wants to be completely herself and can’t do that with Finley. In Alice’s first vision, she appears as a participant in a game show similar to The Price Is Right.
But she has to identify each character’s weaknesses in the game. She lists the shortcomings of her ex-partners when pictures of them appear. However, the final image is of her, compelling her to acknowledge the defect preventing her from meeting “the one.”
She wins the game and her ideal life with her ideal spouse when she accurately responds that she leaves people behind. Erin Daniels makes an unexpectedly poignant appearance. Dana informs Alice that getting to experience old age with her is a part of her gift.
The two sing a lovely duet about just a life that was meant to be but never happened, about two kindred spirits living their finest lives together. Dana, however, assures Alice that she still has “the one” for her that is out and that Alice has to let Dana get to find someone in a dialogue that is so sad that it makes Alice cry.
Neither Alice’s anguish over losing Dana nor her grief over the future life she with Dana had envisioned have ever been fully addressed. Dana also suggests that Alice has previously met “the one,” but she’s turned them away.
