David Bowie – The Iconic Star of 90’s
David Robert Jones changed his name to David Bowie to avoid confusion since his original name had a resemblance to another British musician at that time, Davy Jones.
The musician started his music career when he was 15 years old and formed his first band with some other musicians named Konrads. But later, he left the band as he felt the other members had a limited aspiration for music. He needed a band where everyone wished to pursue a position in pop culture.
Later joined another band, and the singer’s first debut was not a commercial hit at the time. Bowie did not have many hits till his first entry on the UK Singles Chart with the release of Space Oddity in 1969. The album was a huge hit in the year and bloomed to fame and success.
Bowie reemerged with a few hits in 1972, which was known as the glam era. Bowie was seen with a fictional character, Ziggy Stardust. The character was from the song Ziggy Stardust and the parent album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
The character was retained throughout the concert tours Bowie had conducted for some years. Bowie has also acted in some movies, including some television films and dramas. Some of the movies by the actor are Into The Night, The Hunger, The Last Temptation of Christ, and many more.
He died from liver cancer on 10 January 2016, aged 69, and was crowned as Britain’s most influential artist of the past 50 years for his ability to transcend music, film and fashion.
