The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice is a British television after-show that follows the series The Great British Bake Off. For fans who can’t get enough of Bake Off, this show is the perfect second serving.
The show, hosted by Jo Brand, features three celebrity panelists who discuss the events of the week. The show first aired on BBC Two on 8 August 2014. It was filmed at The London Studio just two days after the premiere episode of the fifth season of the main show.
Following on from the announcement of their move to Channel 4 in April 2017, it was revealed that the series and Brand would continue on BBC One. The sixth series of The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice started airing on 30 August 2019 and wrapped up on 1 November 2019. The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice has been renewed for a ninth series starting 16 September 2022.

Format of the Show: The Great British Bake Off- An Extra Slice:
Jo Brand and three rotating panelists appear on each episode. The panelists are typically a chef or culinary experts such as Michel Roux, Jr., Rosemary Shrager, Hal Cruttenden, and well-known personalities who enjoy the program. The panel has also previously included past bakers, including Nadiya Hussain and Nancy Birtwhistle, who won the contest.
Each episode of the show starts with Brand discussing the happenings of the prior episode while also playing clips, including never seen footage from inside the tent, which is often hilarious outtakes. She then chats with the panellists about the current episode and what went on in the tent that week.
In the next segment, she shows pictures of bakes that have been sent in by fans and then discusses the bakes that were brought to the studio by at least one member of the audience. Brand interviews the most recently eliminated baker yet again in the final segment. The baker is given the option of bringing one of their “less-than-satisfactory bakes.” The panel samples this offering. The baker is given a cake that represents their time in the tent at the end of the segment. Brand finishes the show by giving viewers a glimpse of what is to come in the next episode.

Celebrity fans Jamie Laing, Kadeena Cox, and Tom Davis join host Jo Brand to discuss the highs and lows of Biscuit Week. The show’s hosts, Jo and Tom Allen taste the bakes brought to the stage by the brave studio audience. Jo examines photos of viewer-submitted cakes created at home. Plus, there’s unseen footage from the tent and an interview with the most recent baker to leave.
As biscuit week arrives on the Great British Bake Off, the bakers are put to the test with illusion macarons before having to recreate a fruity favorite in the technical challenge. The showstopper of the episode is a 3D mask made entirely out of biscuits. Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas will see who can make the best cookies while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith judge their efforts.
