The wholesome comedy series, The Goldbergs, aired by ABC, will soon be premiering with another episode this week. What was originally started as a short pilot in 2013 has now become a family favorite of many. The Goldbergs is a show that centers around the life of one of its creators, Adam F. Goldberg. Adam had a fun childhood, and since it was the era of camcorders, much of his life has been documented in the form of cassettes.
Using these cassettes as inspiration, we see each episode filled with chaotic yet entertaining situations. Most of the characters, such as Beverly, Erica, and Barry, are taken from Adam’s real-life family. Over the years, the show has started to focus much more loosely on its origins and now has a story of its own.
The Goldbergs was seen for the first time in April of 2013, and after many seasons over the years, the most recent, Season 10, began airing earlier this year on September 21st, 2022. Season 10 started with the death of Murray, Adam’s father. The writers had to incorporate it into the show since Jeff Garlin was removed from the cast.
Now Adam and his brother take up the responsibility as the men of the house, while Erica is busy with her new baby, Muriel. Beverly is ecstatic to be a grandmother, but her love for all her children is still the same. The eccentric family seems to be living their own colorful lives, and the show rightfully takes us through that journey as well.
The Goldbergs Season 10 Episode 8: Recap
Episode 8, which was released on November 16th, 2022, was completely Thanksgiving-themed. Beverly decided not to host Thanksgiving at her house this year since Murray wasn’t there, and it would just be depressing. Adam and Barry don’t like the idea and convince their mom to host it like she always does. They take up the mission to make this Thanksgiving special and unproblematic.
Erica seems to be tired from taking care of the baby, but what makes her angry is the fact that Geoff gets to do all the things he loves while she has to stay back at home. Adam thinks that this could lead to quarrels at the dinner, so he takes up the task of settling the marathon dispute between Erica and Geoff. He shows up at the race in a turkey costume to hide his identity, but this leads to him falling over at the beginning of the race, injuring many others, including Geoff.
Meanwhile, Barry tries to heal the strained relationship between Pop Pop and Marvin, Murray’s father and brother. Though Marvin was now a part of corporate life, his father was still not satisfied and kept spewing sarcastic comments. He feels fake putting up with formal attire, good language, and a boring job. Barry helps him feel better, but that just makes things worse as Marvin decides to confess his feelings to Pop pop.
Once the dinner begins, things start going downhill. Marvin talks about Pop pops treatment towards him and how he doesn’t even like his new girlfriend. Erica lashes out at Geoff for leaving her alone, and the guest Andre, cannot stop taking things personally. Beverly asks everyone to be calm but notices that though Murray isn’t there, Thanksgiving takes place in the way it always does, fully chaotic.
