The First Omen goes back to the classic scary movie series. It tells a story where a sinister plan leads to the birth of the Antichrist. It connects to the 1976 original film and ignores the 2006 remake.
While it acknowledges the old film, it also changes some things to make a fresh story. The original trilogy showed how Damien Thorn, the Antichrist, grew up.
In The Omen, a man named Robert Thorn secretly adopts a baby after his real child dies. But the baby he adopts is actually evil. The movie shows how things led up to that moment.
It is about a young American woman named Margaret who goes to Rome to work at an orphanage before becoming a nun. Her mentor is Cardinal Lawrence, who helped her when she had scary visions as a child.
But the orphanage has secrets, like a girl named Carlita who draws creepy pictures. Margaret starts having hallucinations again in Rome, but she wonders if they’re real this time.
A priest named Father Brennan warns her about something, but she doesn’t believe him. After a nun kills herself, Margaret decides to talk to Father Brennan in secret.
He tells her about a secret group in the church that wants to bring the Antichrist into the world. They’re scared of people turning away from religion, especially young people.
So, they plan to make the Antichrist to make people turn back to God and the church. Father Brennan thinks they want to use Carlita to do it.
Ending Explained
More strange and scary things keep happening, and Margaret’s visions get worse. She feels like she’s being followed by a scary demon in her visions. Margaret sees the number 666, the mark of the beast, on Carlita’s mouth, proving Father Brennan was right.
When everyone else is busy, Margaret finds a hidden room that shows the church has been trying to make an Antichrist for a long time.
They’ve done experiments, and many kids died. The church made a deal with Satan to try and make the Antichrist.
According to Father Brennan, Satan can only have a baby with his own kids to make a boy Antichrist.
Carlita is one of the kids who survived. Margaret tries to run away with proof and Carlita, but the other nuns and priests catch her and lock her up.
Father Gabriel, who supports Father Brennan, finds the files Margaret hid and helps her run away to find Father Brennan. They look at a picture from the files and see that Margaret has the mark of the beast on her head.
Margaret and Father Brennan find Margaret’s file and realize it’s about her. The file explains everything about Margaret’s life – her weird visions and how the church influenced her.
The people in the church want Margaret to be the mother of the Antichrist, and she realizes she’s already pregnant with Satan’s baby.
Father Brennan and Father Gabriel try to help Margaret get rid of the baby, but their car is attacked. Margaret survives the crash but suddenly looks pregnant and starts having a baby.
They take her back to the orphanage, where Cardinal Lawrence admits he was part of the plan to make Margaret have the Antichrist. The others watch as Margaret gives birth to the evil baby.
In the end, Margaret, along with her baby daughter and Carlita, survives the scary events. Margaret might team up with Father Brennan and other good people in the church to stop the conspiracy and prevent Damien from rising.
