Nexon has revealed some of its biggest plans yet for The First Descendant, with Season 4 set to tackle one of the community’s most common complaints: repetitive farming.
During the Descendant Fest 2026 Creator Roundtable, the development team answered questions from content creators covering gameplay, progression, balance, weapons, cosmetics, and future updates. While several new features were discussed, the biggest takeaway was the team’s commitment to making the game’s grind feel less repetitive and more rewarding.
According to the developers, Season 4 will introduce a new farming philosophy that gives players more freedom over where they earn materials while also reducing the fatigue caused by repeating the same activities.
The update will also add fresh endgame content, improve the experience for new players, and continue supporting older game modes rather than leaving them behind after each major release. Together, these changes aim to make progression feel more rewarding for both longtime players and newcomers preparing for Season 4.
Season 4 will overhaul farming with bigger rewards and more player choice
One of the biggest announcements from the roundtable was Nexon’s plan to move away from a system where a specific material can only be obtained in one location. Instead, Season 4 will allow players to farm the same items across different activities with varying levels of efficiency, giving them more flexibility in choosing how they progress.
The developers also confirmed they are replacing many of the game’s smaller, continuous rewards with larger bulk rewards to reduce farming fatigue. Rather than forcing players into long sessions repeating the same mission, the goal is to make each run feel more meaningful while cutting down on unnecessary repetition.
Season 4 will also introduce several new activities, including the Mega Dungeon, Trials, and Cradle of Evolution. According to the developers, these modes will feature changing variables designed to keep gameplay feeling fresh instead of becoming predictable after a few runs.
Existing content will also receive updates so different Descendants can excel in different activities, giving older modes a reason to remain part of the endgame instead of becoming obsolete.
The team also acknowledged concerns surrounding Breach Tracking. To make the activity more rewarding, Season 4 will add new Dimensional Stones that consume multiple keys at once while delivering proportionally larger rewards, reducing the burden of repetitive farming.

New systems aim to help players reach endgame faster
The developers also addressed feedback from newer players, noting that many progress smoothly through the early game before struggling to understand builds and progression systems later on.
To help bridge that gap, Season 4 will introduce a Boost Path that allows players with a completed Ultimate Bunny build to jump into higher-level content more quickly. Players will also be able to test pre-built Descendants and recommended builds directly in Trials, alongside in-game guides explaining how each character grows and performs.
Nexon also confirmed that Onslaught Mode will receive a new Difficulty Level 4, while additional Trials maps are already planned after the first launches in August. Rather than allowing previous activities to fade into irrelevance, the studio says it intends to continue updating older content with new rewards and mechanics so it remains worthwhile over the long term.
Developers outline broader Season 4 improvements
Beyond farming, the roundtable offered a glimpse at several other changes planned for Season 4. The developers confirmed that Transcendent Weapons are being designed around repeated farming rather than endless rerolling, with limited reroll functionality intended to make acquiring desirable effects less frustrating.
The team also discussed plans for more frequent character balance updates instead of relying solely on large-scale reworks. Male Descendants such as Kyle and Keelan are among those expected to receive improvements after the Blair rework, while the broader balance philosophy will shift toward allowing different Descendants to excel in different types of content instead of focusing almost entirely on damage output.
Taken together, the announcements suggest Season 4 is less about adding a single headline feature and more about refining the overall gameplay experience. By addressing repetitive farming, improving progression, expanding endgame activities, and continuing to revisit older content, Nexon is signaling that player feedback is shaping the future direction of The First Descendant.
