If you need a relaxing show, The Farmer’s Country Showdown, aired on BBC One is the way to go. Taking place in a rural area in Kent, the series is a documentary that provides a look into the everyday lives of the humble families that reside there.
It was first aired on February 13th, 2017. The show was launched as a 15-episode-long journey where each episode dealt with a specific type of competition happening in the villages.
From the biggest fruits and vegetables to the strongest horses, there are all sorts of categories in which these families can compete. This television series is narrated by Denis Lawson and Bill Paterson.
We not only get to see the competition, but also the efforts that each farmer puts out on the table, just so they can get a chance to showcase their hard work. The Farmer’s Country Showdown is also filled with wholesome interactions and not to mention the cozy and appealing countryside charm.
With the 7th season announced to start airing in January of 2023, there’s much more to expect in the latest series of competitions. Some of the things we’ll be seeing in this season of the show include a special variety of sheep, farmer’s market sales, rare horses, and much more.
The Farmer’s Country Showdown: Where Does The Show Take Place?
The beautifully calming locations that the show often features include various small rural villages in Kent and its surrounding areas. Most of the time each episode features a handful of different families, each having farms that are spread out locally.
For instance, last season began with a family from Edenbridge and continued to show the lives of people from places like Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Sussex, and so on. This season, the locations that have been revealed are Yorkshire, North York Moors, Lincolnshire, and East Sussex.

With the previous season having about 20 episodes, we witnessed the journeys of many families, with each having its own story to tell. Whether it was Sarah’s Kunekune pigs or Sharon and Andrew’s Ryeland Sheep, the show provided all sorts of interesting coverages of these lovely families.
We also got to see the Farmer’s market chaos, and just how much work goes into providing good quality fruits and vegetables. These farmers deserve appreciation and with shows like The Farmer’s Country Showdown, many more people are becoming aware of their efforts.
In the Westmorland County Show’s episode, Debbie and Paul’s charming Alpacas were sent to compete for the title. Rhian along with her children competed in the Mid-Somerset Show, where they were to compete using their sheep.
Sheepdogs joined in on the fun when Ross and James brought their trained dogs and decided to cast them into the Macclesfield Sheepdog Trials. Not only were the dogs tested for their sheep herding, but also for things such as Bad Weather and environment.
Having a change of scene, the show next featured the Westmorland County Show, where Rodney and Annabell brought their special cows to participate in the Cumbria competition.
The season ended with The Royal Cheshire County Show, where we saw the lives of two couples hailing from Sheffield and Catterick. They both took part in the Goat show, where the best goats would be given a special prize.

This season of the show will start airing on January 2nd, 2023. New episodes of The Farmer’s Country Showdown will be aired Monday to Friday, with a single episode lasting around 45 minutes.
The Farmer’s Country Showdown Season 7 Episode 1: What To Expect?
The upcoming episode will begin with David and Charlotte competing at the Kilnsey Show, where they will show off their finest range of sheep and will be participating in about 18 different categories. The Kilnsey show will be taking place at Yorkshire Dales.
The next family the show documents is James and his daughter, Hannah, who have gathered amazing photographs of their flock and look forward to competing in the Kilnsey Show as well.
