Along with the announcement, fans also got a new teaser trailer, replacing the previously announced Summer 2026 release window with a firm premiere date.

A Long-Awaited Return for Tokiyuki Hojo

The Elusive Samurai Season 2 was one of the final major anime to confirm its Summer 2026 release date. During Anime Expo 2026, the staff announced that the new season will premiere on July 17, giving fans a firm date after months of waiting.

The announcement also included a brand-new English dub trailer, confirming that the dubbed version will be available when the series begins streaming. This means fans can choose between the Japanese and English versions from the start.

The July 17 premiere builds on earlier announcements made at Jump Festa 2026 and AnimeJapan 2026, where the staff shared teaser visuals and trailers that previewed Tokiyuki Hojo’s next chapter.

Where the Story Continues

Season 2 picks up with Tokiyuki Hojo continuing his fight to reclaim his family’s legacy after escaping the fall of the Kamakura Shogunate. With the help of the priest Suwa Yorishige and his growing group of allies, Tokiyuki must outsmart powerful enemies while staying one step ahead.

Based on Yusei Matsui’s manga, The Elusive Samurai blends real Japanese history with action, strategy, and coming-of-age storytelling. The manga finished serialization in 2026 after 25 collected volumes and received praise for its unique take on historical events.

Whether you’re returning after Season 1 or watching for the first time, Season 2 promises more battles, emotional moments, and Tokiyuki’s clever tactics as his journey continues.

Production Team and Streaming Details

CloverWorks returns to animate Season 2, with director Yuta Yamazaki leading the project once again. Yoriko Tomita is back as series composer, Yasushi Nishiya continues as character designer, and Akiyuki Tateyama and GE return to compose the music.

Crunchyroll will stream The Elusive Samurai Season 2 for international audiences, just as it did with the first season. Before the new episodes began, the first season was rebroadcast in Japan to help viewers catch up on the story.

With the July 17 premiere now confirmed, fans can expect more updates in the coming weeks, including opening and ending theme songs, additional cast announcements, and new promotional material ahead of the season’s debut.
