Anime India Mumbai 2026 Confirms Naruto Director Hayato

Anime India Mumbai 2026 is set to become one of the most significant anime conventions ever hosted in India, as organizers confirm that legendary anime director Hayato Date will attend as the headline international guest. Best known for directing the globally influential Naruto and Naruto Shippuden series, Date’s appearance marks his first-ever visit to India and his debut at an Indian fan convention.

The three-day event will take place from 28th to 30th August 2026 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. With India’s anime fandom growing rapidly over the last decade, the announcement has already generated major excitement among fans who grew up watching Naruto’s long-running journey.

In his official message to Indian fans, Hayato Date expressed both curiosity and enthusiasm:

“I don’t know very much about the anime scene in India, so I’m a little nervous, but also very excited, to find out how Naruto has been loved and enjoyed in a country so far away… If you see me at the event, please don’t hesitate to come and say hello!”

Hayato Date’s Legacy and Global Anime Impact

Hayato Date is widely regarded as one of the most influential anime directors of modern times. His work on Naruto (2002–2007) and Naruto Shippuden (2007–2017) spans more than 720 episodes, making him one of the longest-serving creative forces behind a single anime franchise.

Under his direction, the series delivered some of the most iconic arcs, emotional character developments, and large-scale battles in anime history. His storytelling approach helped shape Naruto into a global cultural phenomenon that continues to influence new generations of anime creators and fans.

At Anime India Mumbai 2026, Date is expected to participate in a flagship stage session, offering insights into anime direction, storytelling structure, and the creative challenges behind building a long-running franchise that resonated worldwide.
