History Of The Croods
Fast-rising in popularity, The Croods: Family Tree is a continuation of earlier television and motion picture entries. The Croods, an animated children’s movie, was the franchise’s first entry, debuting in theaters in 2013. The Croodaceous Period, a made-up prehistoric era, served as the backdrop for the movie. It closely resembles the prehistoric periods we are familiar with, but it also includes many fictional creatures and many reimaginings or portmanteaux of real-world creatures. The Croods are alive at this time.
The Croods
They are patriarch Grug (voiced by Nicolas Cage), the “Leader of the Hunt,” his companion Ugga (voiced by Catherine Keener), daughter Eep (voiced by Emma Stone), son Thunk (voiced by Clark Duke), and the feisty Gran (voiced by Cloris Leachman). They are happy living a traditional caveman hunter lifestyle, gathering food, and spending the nights in a cave together. Guy’s arrival disrupts their way of life and worldview. Guy (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) challenges how things are currently done, brings a more advanced form of working, and is quick to introduce new inventions. More importantly, he warns the family of impending destruction and doom, which prompts them to embark on a perilous adventure in search of a new home.
The Croods: New Age
The Croods: A New Age, the original movie’s follow-up, debuted in 2020. Many of the original cast returned for this movie, along with some new faces like Kelly Marie Tran, Leslie Mann, and Peter Dinklage (“Tyrion” from Game of Thrones). The Croods family encountered the Bettermans, a more developed tribe, in the sequel. The Croods and the Bettermans, who use more advanced technology, have many ideological disagreements; as a result, the two tribes must work together to exterminate the nagging “Punch Monkeys” who have been harassing them. The Croods and the Bettermans eventually come to terms with one another and live side by side with the Punch Monkeys in the movie’s epilogue.
Dawn Of The Croods
Dawn of the Croods, the first of two television series, debuted in December 2015. Unlike its film counterpart, the beginning of the Croods was a 2D animated television series. The prequel series, which took place before the events of the 2013 movie, was released. 52 episodes were produced before its fourth and final season, which debuted on Netflix in 2017. A. J. Locascio (from Voltron: Legendary Defender) as Thunk, Dan Milano (from Glitch Techs) as Grug, Cree Summer (from Rugrats) as Ugga, Stephanie Lemelin (from Young Justice) as Eep, Grey Griffin (from Rugrats) as Sandy, and Laraine Newman (from SNL) as Gran all provided the voices for the characters. The series generally widened the world of the first movie by examining some creatures from the Croodaceous era and the interactions between the Croods and their environment before their cinematic adventure.
The Croods: Family Tree
The second TV show set in the world of The Croods is The Croods: Family Tree. It is a 3D animated series that happens after The Croods: A New Age’s events in the year 2020. The show’s first season debuted on September 23, 2021, and the second and third seasons followed on April 5 and June 2, 2022, respectively. The branching cast of Croods and Bettermans is observed in The Croods: Family Tree. The executive producers and showrunners are Todd Grimes (the man behind The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants) and Mark Banker (he produced Adventure Time). Mikros Animation animates the series with DreamWorks Animation Television programs under Technicolor Animation Productions.
