Surviving as an African American in a community where your life is always at risk and you have to figure out ways to keep moving forward and surviving must not be easy. The struggles of an individual of African-American descent living in a region where they are the first to get blamed for anything going wrong is portrayed perfectly in the drama series titled “The Chi”.
Created by Lena Waithe, the series stars Jason Mitchell playing the role of Brandon Johnson, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine playing the role of Ronnie Davis, Jacob Latimore playing the role of Emmett Washington, Alex R. Hibbert playing the role of Kevin Williams, the series protagonist, Tiffany Boone playing the role of Jerrika Little.
Yolonda Ross plays the role of Jada Washington, Armando Riesco plays the role of Detective Cruz, Rolando Boyce plays the role of Darnell, Barton Fitzpatrick plays the role of Reg Taylor, Shamon Brown plays the role of Stanley Papa, Kevin’s best friend and Michael V. Epps playing the role of Jake.
Kevin’s other best friend, Birgundi Baker, played the role of Kiesha Williams, Luke James played the role of Victor, and Curtiss Cook played the role of Otis in the lead. Broadcasted on Showtime in January of 2018, the series won over people’s hearts over time, with it showing the reality of the lives of individuals of African-Americans living in the South side of Chicago.
Produced by Lena Waithe and Elwood Reid, the series has six seasons with 51 episodes. The performance of the young cast of the series was greatly appreciated by the viewers. Maisha is one of the most loved characters in the series, with viewers initially thinking that she was there to add a comic element to the series, only to realize she is a serious beloved character.

The Chi Season 6 Episode 1 Recap
The sixth season of “The Chi” focuses on the blissful union of Emmett and Keisha being tested by Emmett’s insatiable desire to expand Smokey’s while Keisha races towards her dream career.
The new season will also focus on Douda dealing with the Q’s murder fallout and the shift in loyalty it accumulated in their inner circle. Victor’s political ambitions are affected by his declaration of love for his community and lover.
Viewers knew from the start of the first episode in the sixth season that there was trouble in paradise between Keisha and Emmett due to the two wanting different things. The difference comes with Keisha wanting to focus on raising her children with love and focus on her teaching career, while Emmett has changed as a person and has been focusing on materialistic items since meeting Otis.
The arguments between the two often end with one of them walking out in a fit of rage. The first episode of the new season starts with Keisha and Emmett having intercourse, with Emmett failing to orgasm as the two start to bicker midway.
Ronnie starts crying while his parents are having intercourse, and this is followed by the pair having a fight. During the observation process, Keisha was for the job as a teacher due to her being late for the observation round and then standing up for herself, but she got the job after the interview and felt she would fit the job well.
The episode witnessed Keisha getting her dream job as a teacher after her interview and supervision round went well. Meanwhile, Emmett finds Ottis waiting for him outside the apartment on his way to the reopening of his restaurant Smokey’s. Soon, Douda’s henchmen make an appearance asking Emmett to enter the car as Ottis takes him to buy a new suit. Ottis stated that he needed to invest in Emmett before investing in his business.
The reality of the dangers Emmett has involved himself in sets at the moment he is asked to hold a gun for a minute by the group. Once the pair return home, Emmett excitedly informs Keisha that Ottis helped him buy a car and a new location for the expansion of Smokey’s.
Keisha has an eerie feeling about the ex-mayor being this involved in their life, but she keeps her feelings aside to celebrate her getting her dream job. The happiness between the couple is short-lived after Keisha figures out that Emmett bought Tiffany a car on insistence from Ottis.
Emmett storms out after the pair get into a fight to spend the night at the bar with Douda and his hired car thieves. Meanwhile, Ottis pressurizes Emmett into talking to his realtor, but Emmett firmly refuses as he feels he would need to talk to Keisha.
Emmett realizes there is no way back from the hole he has dug up for himself after Ottis shoots a man fatally in frustration at the bar. Meanwhile, Victor and Tierra are happy in their love life, but Victor is stressed about the upcoming elections. The episode ends with Ottis casually walking out of the bar after fatally shooting the guy.

The upcoming episode of the sixth episode will witness Emmett and Keisha leaping their relationship while Shaad starts a new business with help from Deja. Meanwhile, Jamal will also return to the town for a while.
