The Boys Season 3 Episode 7 was more of a cool down after a storm and a set up for The Boys Season 3 Episode 8 kind of an episode. It was a normal The Boys Episode, still better than most of the other Superhero shows episodes. After Herogasm everyone was just cooling off in this episode, except for that crazy neck-biting nun. But this episode has nicely paved the way for the Season finale and we think we are going to see a legendary battle between The Boys and Homelander & Soldier Boy.
The majority of the episode is on Soldier Boy’s search for Mindstorm, with Black Noir’s motivation for betraying his own squad commander in the past also being discussed. Additionally, Episode 7 provides more insight into Billy’s horrific history, which includes the death of his younger brother Lenny, for whom he has always blamed his abusive father. And yes, it also makes clear that A-Train is alive and that he now has Blue Hawk’s replacement heart. Such irony! The good news is that he will once more be able to unleash his superspeed. The Boys Season 3 Episode 7 Recap
Kimiko eventually understood in the previous episode that her abilities were a blessing rather than a burden because she needed them to protect Frenchie from Little Nina. She eventually managed to save him, but she felt as though this was just a case of luck, and she desperately wants her power back to protect herself from such threats in the future. Kimiko, therefore, asked Starlight to bring a vial of chemical V from the Vought Tower to her. Starlight ultimately broke into a facility in Vought Tower while Homelander was occupied appearing in public to grab some compound V for Kimiko.
It wasn’t until she came across some lab studies on Temp V that it became clear that this experimental substance may result in cancerous tumors or diseases whose growth is increased after each dose and may result in a person’s death after three to five doses. She attempted to warn Hughie, but she was unable to get his cellphone. She made an effort to warn Billy as well, but he hung up the phone after ignoring all of her cautions.
However, Starlight had delivered Compound V for Kimiko, and when Frenchie eventually gave it to her, she regained her powers and all of her wounds instantly healed. Compound V, as mentioned throughout the show, might have some negative effects on Kimiko’s body, which might be discussed in the season 3 finale episode.
Homelander Wants Kids With Maeve
On the other hand, Starlight had already exposed Homelander and Vought on her social media account. She revealed to her followers that nobody knew what had happened to Queen Maeve when she was held hostage by Homelander. Additionally, the Vought had been keeping quiet about Soldier Boy’s return, who had been murdering unarmed civilians all throughout the city, and Homelander was quite frightened by him.
It was the first time in history that someone actually knocked him out, and he simply couldn’t stop thinking about his first defeat, so he was extremely shaken all through the Boys Season 3 Episode 7. He visited Maeve, whom he had imprisoned in a cell, in order to chat with her for emotional support. However, Maeve made fun of Homelander for having a bruise on his face.
Homelander attempted to divert the issue by asking about Butcher and Soldier Boy’s hiding place, but as usual, Maeve refused to provide any information. It was at that point when Homelander finally admitted to her that the only reason he had kept her alive was so they might have children together, but that could be changed at any time.
Soldier Boy’s Weakness
Marvin believed that the Russians tranquilized and controlled Soldier Boy with halothane gas. He attempted to use the same method on Soldier Boy in Episode 6, but it had no effect on him. As a result, when Frenchie, the drug expert, got back, Marvin showed him all the documentation from the Russian experiment, and Frenchie finally understood that Soldier Boy had been drugged by a vapor rather than a gas. He informed Marvin that the frightening supe was tranquilized by the Russians using a unique nerve poison known as Novichok.
Soldier Boy was only put to sleep by the Novichok nerve poison, which could instantly kill a regular person if they came into contact with it. However, they would just need to make a second trip to Russia or look for a different nerve agent if they want to obtain Novichok. What’s great about this whole thing is that Marvin and the boys now have a useful weapon against Soldier Boy that they can use to restrain the destructive Supe, and as the ending of episode 7 implies, Billy the Butcher might have to use Novichok in the last episode to defeat Soldier Boy.
Black Noir’s Past
Black Noir relived all the horrible events that had happened over the years in a sequence that was wonderfully created. He was reminded by his imaginary friends of the years that Soldier Boy had physically abused and assaulted him and his teammates. Soldier Boy was nothing more than a selfish, egotistical monster who was unable to share the spotlight or success with his close buddies. He was poisonous as all get out and used to playfully beat up on Gunpower, who was probably still in his teens when he joined the Payback.
However, the entire crew was terrified by Soldier Boy, not only Gunpowder. He was reminded by Black Noir’s imaginary friend about a time when a filmmaker wanted Black Noir for the Beverly Hills Cop film, but Soldier Boy ruined Black Noir for Don Simpson, costing Black Noir the part of Alex Foley. Black Noir attempted to speak out against Soldier Boy’s oppression before Soldier Boy lost control and knocked Black Noir to the ground. It was obvious to everyone on the team that they needed to work together to defeat Soldier Boy.
How Payback Kicked Out Soldier Boy
Stanford Edgar disclosed to Black Noir in 1984 that Vought America planned to replace Soldier Boy because they were developing a replacement who would be more powerful and able to symbolize the ideal American hero. The Payback crew made the quick decision to rebel against its captain in order to put a stop to his dictatorship. Most likely, Black Noir told the Russians about Soldier Boy’s reaction to the Russian nerve agent Novichok, which led to the latter sedating him and extracting him.
The flashback also showed that Black Noir’s face had been destroyed by Soldier Boy, which is why he had to cover it and wear a mask for so many years. Soldier Boy will likely pursue Black Noir after murdering Mindstorm in The Boys Season 3 Episode 7 until somebody decides to step in and stop Soldier Boy from killing other supes.

Butcher’s Past
The focus of Episode 7 was ‘events in the past that were now coming to the surface in order to influence the present and alter the course of the future’. Given that Soldier Boy’s toxic attitude had scarred every one of his Payback teammates, they had a good motive to betray him. Billy, however, was caught by the Mindstorm in an unending nightmare where he repeatedly reflected on his younger brother Lenny’s passing.
Billy and Lenny were both raised in a poisonous atmosphere where their father, Sam Butcher, would beat their kids in an effort to make them physically strong. While Billy was able to withstand these beatings, Lenny was emotionally devastated by them.
Billy also developed violent coping mechanisms to deal with the daily abuse. This was the only thing his father desired, and he was very pleased with him when he lost all of his control and beat the school principal. Lenny, on the other side, was a sensitive child who preferred to suffer in silence rather than use any form of violence. Later, Billy made the decision to join the military in order to get out from under the shadow of their father.
Lenny begged Billy not to abandon him with their father alone, but Billy ignored him and left. Teenage Billy was selfishly focused on leaving the harmful environment as quickly as possible and disregarded the possibility that Lenny would suffer without him. Lenny chose to shoot himself six months after Billy left because he was unable to take it any longer.
Revenge More Important Than A Friend
Billy’s consciousness warned him that Hughie was the only one alive who could save him, but Billy was actively working to have him killed as well. All these flashbacks served to remind Billy that he was gradually becoming his father—a violent, abusive, drunken, and self-centered monster. He attempted to utilize his laser eyes when Soldier Boy hit Hughie in front of Billy, but he abruptly stopped since he needed Soldier Boy in his battle with Homelander.
Once more, when Starlight warned Billy that the temp V may kill them both, Billy chose to ask Hughie for more from the lab rather than warn him of the danger. Since Hughie was the only person who could prevent Billy from killing himself, as Lenny had warned him in his consciousness, Billy probably didn’t tell Hughie about its bad effects. However, Billy didn’t want anyone to save him. However, if he decides to kill Hughie with him, it will be clear that Billy didn’t learn anything from Lenny’s passing and didn’t feel regret for it. The evil aspect of Billy’s character will be further explored in the finale episode.
The Boys Season 3 Episode 7 Ending Explained
Butcher was attacked by Mindstorm while Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie were on a search to kill Mindstorm. Soldier Boy seemed least concerned about helping anyone. Homelander, Soldier Boy, and Billy share similar personality qualities in that they don’t care for the people close to them and are more focused on expanding their own brands or settling personal scores.
Billy neglected Soldier Boy in the same way that Billy has been ignoring Hughie and his other teammates’ safety. Nevertheless, Soldier Boy eventually got his hands on Mindstorm, who, after a rough questioning, revealed a shocking fact to him. Even after ruthlessly killing Mindstorm, Soldier Boy couldn’t stop reflecting on what Mindstorm had told him.
Soldier Boy made the decision to call Homelander while Butcher, Soldier Boy, and Hughie made their way back to The Legend’s home. Homelander was examining an address Victoria Neuman had given him at the time. This address most likely belongs to the secret location where Grace Mallory has been keeping the son of a Homelander.
Homelander had received threats from Maeve and Starlight not to see Ryan or else they would publish his film from Flight 37, but at this point, Homelander was fearless and felt free to go meet Ryan or even take him to the Vought Building. Soldier Boy nevertheless called Homelander to let him know about his brief visit to Jonah Vogelbaum’s laboratory in the winter of 1980 for research, during which Vogelbaum extracted a sample of Soldier Boy’s sperm.
Soldier Boy Is Homelander’s Father
Soldier Boy learned from Mindstorm that Vogelbaum had fathered a child from Soldier Boy’s semen in the spring of 1981, around the same time that Vought planned to get rid of Soldier Boy. And this new child was none other than Homelander, who was always having existential crises and craved a family or other forms of emotional support because he was raised in a lab.
Homelander discovered his father’s identity in the end. However, he may not currently be his favorite person. The fact that Soldier Boy claimed he would have calmly allowed Homelander to replace him is more concerning than anything else in this sincere conversation between Homelander and Soldier Boy?
As a result, Billy and his squad are back to square one because Soldier Boy will no longer fight Homelander but will instead kill anyone who tries to hurt his son. There is no way to kill Homelander, and they still don’t know how to control Soldier Boy. The Season 3 finale of “The Boys” will undoubtedly feature some unexpected surprises, which will undoubtedly set the stage for the already announced Season 4 of the show.
Similarities Between Soldier Boy And Homelander
Speaking of genes, Homelander and Soldier Boy do have a lot in common in terms of their personalities, including their narcissism, ego, and craving for attention or approval from others. When Hughie asked The Legend in Episode 7 how Soldier Boy became the greatest wartime hero in America by storming France, The Legend finally told Hughie the truth, saying that Soldier Boy did storm France, but two weeks after D-day, and that though for the photo shoot.
His entire public persona was nothing more than a carefully created fantasy that was repeatedly propagated to the public in an attempt to convince them to allow more superheroes into civilization so that Vought could market them as commodities and fill its own wallets.
Consequently, they are just toys. Toys that kill others around them and are difficult to stop. Additionally, Soldier Boy is highly radioactive and has suffered from terrible PTSD. Whoever tells the truth dies, and that’s what Homelander is doing or has been doing in Starlight’s case, and his entire heroic character is a lie, but he is also in denial of it. He most likely got this from his father as well. Let’s see how their relationship is impacted by the last episode of Season 3 and whether any new information is revealed.
