At that point, the two were practically strangers and had just started to know each other. Though not a lot of time has passed since they met then, their relationship has progressed. While the Manga does not indicate that Shiina and Amane will develop feelings for each other anytime soon, the Manga has a lot going on for the time being.
The main weakness of romance manga used to be a lack of drama which could lead it to be stale as time goes on. However, in this series, it is very different, as the long detour for the two to come close and make memories will not only work in their favor but gives us something to look forward to as viewers.
