The Ancient Magus’ Bride Synopsis
Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old girl from Japan, had a difficult childhood and was sold at an auction to a masked man for five million pounds. She was desperate for a home and willing to go to anyone who would take her in. Despite being called a rare Sleigh Beggy by robed men at the auction, she paid no attention to them.
The man who bought her was a magus named Elias Ainsworth. After a brief confrontation, he teleported her to his cottage in rural England, where fairies and other strange beings greeted her. This marked the beginning of Chise’s story as Elias’ apprentice and his supposed bride.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
In the first episode of The Ancient Magus’ Bride season 2, Chise and Elias go to the college and split up to care for different matters. Adolf Stroud gave Elias a tour of the campus while Alexandra Heath examined Chise. However, Chise felt someone was watching her while Elias encountered an old foe named Mikhail Renfred.
Later, Chise was shown around the dorms, where she met a talking cat named Rose Lyn, who became her dorm mother. Chise also met her roommate, Lucy, but their first encounter ended. Meanwhile, Elias revealed to Adolf that he and Chise planned to commute to the college, and he learned that Renfred and Alice Swayne also did the same.
The episode concluded with a focus on Chise. She dressed up in her new school uniform and met Alice. However, on her way, she encountered the girl who had been watching her earlier, and the girl passed out before her.
The episode introduced several new characters and settings, including the college and Chise’s dormitory. It also hinted at some possible conflicts, such as the tension between Chise and Lucy and the return of Mikhail Renfred as a potential threat to Elias and Chise’s safety. The mysterious girl who collapsed before Chise may also be a source of future plot developments.
