There is news spreading around about how The Ancient Magus Bride Manga series used AI for manga translation.
The manga was launched on Thursday following a new arc on hiatus to Bushiroad, which got AI manga translation. This news was officially announced by Kore Yamazaki’s X (formerly Twitter) account that Bushiroad Is getting AI translation by Mantra. Mantra is also providing AI translations from Japanese to English for Yamazaki’s Ghost and Witch manga.
Recently, AI has been noticeably on the rise and improving with great speed from art to translation. The potential it holds is quite significant. It also creates controversy in this new era of AI, which is dominating the market and daily life, which is often scary to everyone.
The Ancient Magus Bride Controversy
The Ancient Magus Bride Manga by Kore Yamazaki went on a break in March after the end of Gaikun Arc and came back with the news on 21 December 2023 with the start of “Shishigari” Arc and announced that the Manga would be getting an international release in English with the help of AI translation, on the official X (formerly Twitter) account by a Japanese company Mantra.
This news has created a negative impression on the fans, which is natural after seeing the rapid growth of AI and the replacement of artists and workers. The original goal of this was to see how AI can be used for translation, according to Mantra. But why is AI even considered at all? This was the question that arose for everyone.
With time, this experiment will lead to replacing Artists and workers on a large scale. The simplest answer to the above question is -“Time and Money,” using AI companies can save tons of money and time, and it is only natural that companies will take this step.
As of now, translation is done by a human translator or by machine translation, which is not accurate and has lots of grammatical errors, and sometimes the sentences don’t even make sense. It is used by Manga companies when there is no official Translation available for the manga for the release. This is the reason Human translators are better because they sound natural and full of emotions in their sentences.
Recent Update On Ancient Magus Bride AI Translation
The official X account of The Ancient Magus Bride made a new post about how they have implemented simultaneous English translation of the Manga. The post stated that Mantra’s AI-assisted translation system included unique machine translation with proofreading and editing in translation for best results.
