About The Tekken Series
The Tekken series stands as one of the most celebrated and influential fighting game franchises in the history of gaming. Developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Tekken has interested players since its debut in 1994. The game’s impact can be proved by the several media adaptations it received, from anime adaptations to printed comics and live-action films. Tekken is one of the most influential games ever released.
Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Nina Williams, Jun Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson, Jack-8, Ling Xiaoyu, Asuka Kazama, Leroy Smith, Lili, and Hwoarang can be played in the upcoming addition.
The Story of the Game
In Tekken 8, we witness Jin Kazama and his father, Kazuya Mishima, who are on the verge of their ultimate showdown, a battle that has been building up since Tekken 4. While Jin has confronted his relatives in previous games, this time, he grapples with his inner conflict caused by the Devil Gene abnormality. As the Devil Gene consumes his humanity, Jin transforms into his alter-ego, Devil Jin, amid the fight.
Six months after the events of Tekken 7, the fight follows the climactic battle between Kazuya and his father, but Harada promises surprises for the audience. Jin’s goal is to eliminate Kazuya and end the chaos their lineage has faced.
The game brings back Jun Kazama, Jin’s mother, who has been absent since Tekken 3. Mari Shimazaki creates Jun’s character design. The second trailer reveals the return of beloved characters such as Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, and Lars Alexandersson and introduces a new version of Jack.
The Gameplay
Tekken 8, as revealed by director Katsuhiro Harada, will bring a new focus on “aggressiveness” in its gameplay. It will introduce a new “Heat” gauge system along with familiar features from Tekken 7. The Rage system-based attacks will make a return, with the Rage Drive being reworked into a Heat system-based move called Heat Smash.
The gameplay encourages offensive playstyles and discourages defensive strategies. The Heat State allows ‘chip damage, additional move sets, and includes heavy guard breaks.’ Fighters can execute dash cancels into the Heat State. More so, the timer for the Heat State can be paused while executing moves.
