Fruits Basket fans have finally got what every manga fan wants(except for Berserk fans) and that is the anime adaptation. Funimation confirmed that the new anime will be released in 2019 in Japan. It will be released on TV Tokyo. Funimation also confirmed that the anime will be streamed on FunimationNow.

Funimation has also secured the license for the home video rights. Another good news for the fans is that the anime will cover the entire story. A lot of times, the anime skips a lot of the content which is in the manga. The perfect example would be Tokyo Ghoul re. Well, this is not the time to discuss. The new anime will have an entirely new cast and staff. The new cast includes:
Manaka Iwami (Tsuki ga Kirei’s Aira Miyamoto, Maquia’s titular character, Tada Never Falls in Love’s Teresa Wagner) as Tohru Honda
Nobunaga Shimazaki (Waiting in the Summer’sKaito, Date A Live’s Shido Itsuka, Scum’s Wish’sMugi) as Yuki Sohma
Yūma Uchida (Macross Delta’s Hayate Immelmann, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans’ Ein Dalton, Banana Fish’s Ash Lynx) as Kyo Sohma
Yūichi Nakamura (Fairy Tail’s Gray Fullbuster, The irregular at magic high school’s Tatsuya Chiba, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind’s Bruno Bucciarati) as Shigure Sohma
The anime is being directed by Yoshihide Ibata (Pikaia!!, FLCL Progressive) at TMS Entertainment. Taku Kishimoto(Silver Spoon, Haikyu!!, 91 Days, Hanebad!) will be overseeing the series composition. The character designs are done by Masaru Shindou (Macross Delta, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU). Takaya herself is serving as executive supervisor.
￼Takaya serialized the original Fruits Basket manga in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yumemagazine from 1998-2006. The manga was released in English by Tokyopop from 2004 to 2009. Then Yen Press re-released the manga in 12 volumes and it startes from June 2016.
