Taxi Driver Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
Taxi Driver Season 2, episode 8, picks up from the last scene of the previous episode, episode 7. Joo Man (the father) ’s car suspiciously breaks down while he drives on the city’s outskirts. It makes him wonder whether there is a folk village there. When Joo Man loses his phone’s network, too, he seems to be concerned and asks a person nearby whether he could borrow his phone.
But he gets surprised to see Do Gi disguised as a priest. When Do Gi tells him to go away because some spirit has run away because of his arrival, the father does not believe him and laughs it off. At that moment, Joo Man receives his phone signal and leaves. Therefore, Go Eun and Do Gi concludes that Joo Man, being a Father to a church, actually lacks faith.
The next day, when Joo Man is seen to be getting ready in all white like a Father, one of his disciples arrives there and informs him about a devotee, Lee Jung Joo, ’s death on his way to the hospital. He does not seem to care about the news and starts laughing.
In the very next scene, Joo Man pretends to be close to Jung Joo in front of a police officer when Jung Joo’s son arrives there and blames Joo Man for his father’s death. Joo Man further lies to the police that he asked Jung Joo to spend his last days with his family, but he denies it.
The police officer then informs Joo Man about Pure White Church is the beneficiary of Jung Joo’s life insurance, which comes as a shock to Jung Joo’s family. The father pretends to be surprised and grateful for the insurance. But Jung Joo’s family keeps blaming him for the murder. At night, while driving back from the police station, Joo Man runs into a “ghost” on the road.
But when he checks back, he finds nothing. Subsequently, he gets pressed by the seatbelt, which makes it difficult for him to breathe, and his car’s brakes automatically fail and hit the side rail of the road. Meanwhile, Joo Man kidnaps Do Gi and brings him to his church to have a conversation. But Do Gi keeps ranting about the spirits around Joo Man and does not hear a single word he has to say, which infuriates Joo Man. When Joo Man loses his temper and is about to hit Do Gi with a golf club, suddenly the light turns off, and Joo Man starts seeing the “ghost” again, which terrifies him.
Do Gi pretends to drive away the ghost and asks Joo Man what he has disturbed that such a spirit is behind him. This reminds Joo Man of him digging up the ashes of man and destroying it.
When Joo Man takes Do Gi to the place where he dug the ashes, Do Gi finds a painting of the Spirit there, which makes Joo Man nervous? Do Gi tells him that the spirit will be the death of him? He then offers a talisman to Joo Man for his safety and asks him not to meet him anymore.
Later, Do Gi plans to summon Joo Man’s mother spirit to control Joo Man. Meanwhile, at the Pure White Church, during the service, Joo Man, as well as all his devotees, get shocked when a painting starts to change its color on its own. At that moment, Joo Man throws away his white robe, which surprises his devotees.
Terrified Joo Man arrives at Do Gi’s temple to ask for his help. Do Gi pretend to be possessed by Joo Man’s mother’s spirit, which further scares Joo Man? But Joo Man somehow gathers courage and faces Do Gi. Do Gi, being possessed by Joo Man’s mother, has an emotional conversation with Joo Man.
Later, Joo Man asks Do Gi to help him live, as his mother wants him to. Do Gi plan to do a reversal of fate ritual for him, which might save his life? Joo Man agrees to do whatever he orders to stay alive. Next, on Do Gi’s order, Joo Man asks his devotees to stop praying and offering him money and leave. He gives all his money and assets to Do Gi and applies for a mortgage loan.
Then, Do Gi does some fake reversal of fate rituals on Joo Man., where Do Gi tortures him for all his misdeeds. On the other side, at the Pure White Church, several videos of Joo Man are revealed where he is seen confessing the truth about all his deeds. All his devotees retaliate and confront Joo Man, and leaves the church.
Outside the church, Jin Hee finally reunites with her sister, Jin Sun. On the other hand, Joo Man and his wife gets locked in a place where he again feels the existence of the spirit. At that moment, Do Gi calls him and tells him to practice a religion that will give him peace and courage. With this, the Rainbow Deluxe Taxi crew’s mission comes to an end.
