Tales is a hip-hop anthology series produced by American DJ Irv Gotti with a great concept. Each week, he features an ensemble cast and weaves together a story revolving around the concept behind a very popular song from the past and present of the world of Hip Hop. With great performances by the cast, each week, we get to know a little more about past and present hits and see a different story from all sorts of backgrounds.
Irv Gotti is a talented man currently developing this series, now on its third run on the BET network. He’s worked with all the major names in the Hip Hop industry like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and the late DMX. Tales serves an excellent platform to promote African American acting talent and hip-hop culture from a novel perspective that changes the story and cast each week. So now, let’s jump into what we have for this upcoming chapter.
Tales Season 3 Episode 3 Recap
Tales Season 3 Episode 3 takes inspiration from a song titled “Act Up” by City Girls. In this episode, we see how four women plot their payback against a man who sold them into forced prostitution and slavery. These are Sasha, Lola, Camille, and Julia. They arm up and use every means they can to take back what was taken from them. The cast features Bria Myles, Deja Ware, and Lawrence H. Robinson.
What Is The Concept Behind Tales?
Every episode of tales is different, as an anthology hip-hop series, the concept is simple. Each installment will turn a popular hip-hop song into a story. So, for the next hour, the concept revolves around what the story tells. For example, the debut episode was titled “F*** the police” by NWA, and what the story told was one of police brutality and abuse against African Americans. Since every story is different, the cast is different, and each song is distinct.
