Former BIGBANG member T.O.P, whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun, has personally apologised to the administrators of his longtime fan site following its decision to shut down after nearly 20 years of operation.

The artist addressed the controversy through a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude for the supporters who stood by him throughout his career and acknowledging that his response had come later than expected.

The closure of ChoiSeungHyun.com, widely known as CHOIDOT, attracted considerable attention in October after its administrators publicly criticised T.O.P and his agency, TOPSPOT PICTURES, over their handling of fan communication and responsibilities.

The fan community had supported the artist since 2006, making its decision to end operations a significant development among his longtime supporters.

T.O.P’s latest statement comes after weeks of discussion surrounding the fan site’s complaints, the cancellation of a planned exhibition, and criticism of the artist’s management.

T.O.P Expresses Gratitude and Apologises to Longtime Fan Site Administrators

On November 1, T.O.P shared a personal message addressing the administrators of ChoiSeungHyun.com.

He acknowledged the two decades of support they had given him and thanked them for continuing to believe in him during difficult periods of his career.

He wrote,

“I want to sincerely express my feelings to the administrators of Choi Seung Hyun dot com, who have been with me for the past 20 years.”

Reflecting on their contribution, the singer and actor explained that their encouragement had helped him regain confidence in his music.

“Even during moments when I found it difficult to believe in myself, you believed in me and gave me the strength to make music again through your warm hearts and precious support.”

T.O.P also addressed why he had taken time to respond publicly to the situation.

He explained that he had wanted to choose his words carefully amid the circumstances surrounding the controversy.

“Because I felt I needed to be careful with every word I said amid various circumstances, it took me some time to express my feelings.”

He further stated that he would never forget the time, effort, and sincerity the administrators had invested in supporting him.

He also expressed hope that their years of dedication would not be overshadowed by misunderstandings or outside speculation.

Concluding his message, T.O.P offered a direct apology to the administrators and supporters who felt hurt by the situation.

“I sincerely apologize to the administrators of Choi Seung Hyun dot com and the fans who have been misunderstood or hurt because of me.

I sincerely hope my feelings reach you.”

Why CHOIDOT Decided to Close After Two Decades of Supporting T.O.P

The apology follows the fan site’s October 9 announcement that it would cease operations.

Established in August 2006, ChoiSeungHyun.com had remained a dedicated community supporting T.O.P through his activities as a BIGBANG member and his subsequent solo career.

In its closure statement, the administrators criticised what they described as insufficient communication from T.O.P and his agency, TOPSPOT PICTURES.

They alleged that responsibilities normally handled by an entertainment agency, including promotional activities, album marketing, and fan coordination, had increasingly fallen on the voluntary efforts and financial contributions of fan communities.

The cancellation of a planned exhibition inspired by T.O.P’s first solo full-length album, “ANOTHER DIMENSION,” became another major point of disagreement.

The organisers said low participation and mounting operating costs made it difficult to continue with the event.

They also rejected suggestions that the cancellation was simply a reaction to the artist’s relationship news.

T.O.P’s relationship with singer and actress Nana became public in October, with the two reportedly confirming that they had begun dating earlier in 2026.

However, CHOIDOT maintained that its decision to close was rooted in longer-standing concerns about communication, management, and the treatment of fan support.

Before T.O.P’s personal apology, TOPSPOT PICTURES had also issued a statement expressing regret over insufficient communication and promising to improve how it shared updates about the artist’s activities.

T.O.P’s November 1 message now represents his personal response to the fan site’s departure.

While the community has ended its operations, his statement recognises the contribution of supporters who remained with him for two decades.

The situation has highlighted the importance of communication between artists, management agencies, and dedicated fan communities, particularly when supporters have invested years of time and effort in promoting an artist’s career.
