Apple TV+’s drama series Surface, stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Sophie. Sophie has memory loss, which she attributes to wounds she sustained in a previous suicide attempt. She learns that the story she had been told might not be true as she struggles with amnesia.
Although the amnesia thriller is a well-known trope, Surface is Apple’s first entry in the genre, and it is new to the Apple TV+ library. The show is full of surprises to keep viewers interested, but the overall effect is a little melodramatic. Mbatha-Raw is the series’ leader thanks to her superb performance in Apple’s The Morning Show’s inaugural season. Oliver Jackson-Cohen portrays the enigmatic spouse. Hello Sunshine produces Surface.
