The buzz surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is getting louder and louder. Amid the chaos, there are decibels aplenty regarding the rumors of Tom Cruise making a cameo appearance in the film as a variant of Iron Man — the Superior Iron Man. Long before we ever got our first trailer for the movie, rumors started floating online that Tom Cruise was going to sport the iron armor and play the role of the tech billionaire and superhero that he was once supposed to play originally before Robert Downey Jr.
However, that didn’t pan out, and millions of fans are thankful it didn’t. RDJ was arguably the best choice for the character and, surely enough, proved to be a great casting decision. However, as iconic as RDJ’s portrayal of the superhero may be, Tom Cruise sporting the same suit is a curiosity. It’ll be interesting to see how Cruise plays the character and what he brings to the table. After the many teasers and trailers that MOM has released so far, a tiny recurring portion is what has hooked fans.
Superior Iron Man Confirmed?
We can see Wanda squaring off against an opponent with a suit from which some energy is emanating. This figure, which comes with considerable ambiguity because of the fleeting nature of the clip and the attenuation in footage quality due to compression, looks like it could be Superior Iron Man. However, as much as fans want that to be true, there are still a lot of obstacles that theory has to overcome. The first one is the bad quality of the clip, making it harder to discern the facial features. Another big reason many fans are quelling the Superior Iron Man theories is that the figure resembles someone else.
This someone else is Maria Rambeau. Many fans note that the silhouette, as well as the features of this suit in the trailer, resemble that of Captain Marvel’s friend Maria Rambeau. What do you think? Do you think that the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirms the appearance of Tom Cruise’s Superior Iron Man? Or are you of the camp that believes this ambiguous glowing figure to be Maria Rambeau? Let us know in the comments.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theatres on May 6, 2022. Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in the film, among many others.
