It doesn’t get any easier as the recruits—a mix of B-list celebrities, singers, and former athletes—try to make it through the demanding boot camp exercises that real army and special forces operatives take part in. There are physical and mental challenges in Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test to overcome.
A person may choose to leave if they think they are taking on more than they can handle. Seven recruits were remaining as of this past week, and in addition to the drill sergeant’s harsh words, they have suffered physical mistreatment because of the unfavorable weather and terrain.
To overcome their fears and manage the physical pressure to decide who prevails, they are committed to investigating, creating, and learning what lies deep within them.
Recap
During Monday’s airing of Fox’s “Special Forces,” Nick Viall shared memories of his tenure as the track team captain at Waukesha North High School and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
According to Fox, celebs battle the cold New Zealand winter while taking on demanding tasks straight out of the Special Forces selection process playbook. The Directing Staff, an elite cadre of former Special Forces operators, leads the cadets through the demanding training exercises.
Day 7 saw “Bachelor” franchise star Viall and his teammates drag heavy sleds through “treacherous” terrain and advance to the final round of selection: escape evasion. After escorting the recruits to a mountain region, the DS divided them into three groups of two.
They were required to carry 130-pound kits behind pulks, or hand-pulled sledges, over two kilometers of “treacherous” terrain. Every pair determined who would draw the sledge, how long to pull it, and how to divide the weight.
The final two players off the starting line were Viall and his colleague Tom Sandoval, the notorious “Vanderpump Rules” cast member. Sandoval was having trouble keeping up and carrying his weight while Viall pulled the sledge. However, Viall never stopped encouraging him.
Team Viall and Sandoval finished the race despite finishing last. It wasn’t over, though. After that, all of the teams were told to sprint and perform a series of “exhausting exercises,” such as bear crawls and army crawls.
Olympic alpine skiing champion Bode Miller, who was suffering from a groin ailment, hit his breaking point halfway through and left the act of his own volition. Throughout the episode, he would be the sole recruit to depart.
Viall received encouragement from head instructor Rudy Reyes, a former recon marine, when the DS convened in secret to evaluate the remaining recruits:
“He does fine in every difficult event we undertake. He breaks right through it.” The trainees and the DS discussed how to live behind enemy lines. Compasses and a thorough cover story were provided to the recruits in case they were apprehended and had to buy some time.
