The documentary-style show, Southern Storytellers, takes us to part of America ranging all the way from the mountains of Appalachia to the Gulf of Mexico in an attempt to bring us closer to the lives and stories of the creators of the art of different forms. The show highlights the stories of amazing creators of art, films, literature, and films. The show is more like a celebration of the South with the help of modern artists who hail from those regions.
We look at contemporary music, films, television series, and pieces of literature by authors like Jesmyn Ward, Michael Twitty, Angie Thomas, and David Joy.
The show will introduce us to poets like Jericho Brown, Natasha Trethewey, songwriters Jason Isbell, Lyle Lovett, Tarriona Ball, Adia Victoria, Justin Moore, Thao Nguyen, screenplay writer and actor Billy Bob Thornton and Mary Steenburgen, Qui Nguyen, and Michael Waldron.
The show is being aired as a three-part series and has already reached its third and final episode. Through this show, we get to see the connection between the art and the artist. The Southern artists get into a conversation, revealing what kind of deeper ties and relations exist between their works and the fact that they are a native of the South.

Southern Storytellers Episode 3: The Plot
In the last episode, we met with South’s six probably the most famous and influential people, including Angie Thomas, who has his roots in Mississippi and expresses himself through writings that have the potential to change young minds, and Jason Isbell took us to Muscle Shoals in Alabama to relive his culture.
Amanda Shires brought us to Tennessee, where her beautiful farm is, one that her husband and she looked after. Michael Twitty also explored Alabama with us, whereas Lyle Lovett went through her precious childhood memories, one that she plans on treasuring forever.
And lastly, Qui Nguyen revealed to the viewers a small town, one where he spent the most important days of his childhood, and told us how his life in that small town revealed to him the power small yet personal stories could hold.
In this final episode of the show as well, we will get a deeper insight into the hometown and homes of some of the most genius creators of modern times hailing from the South. This time we will be meeting Jesmyn Ward, a wonderful writer from Mississippi, and Natasha Trethewey, a talented poet.
Michael Waldron hailing from Georgia is a screenwriter and television series creator who will also be on the third episode of the show to tell his inspiring stories of the South.
And lastly, the makers of the show have also brought on Justin Moore, a songwriter from Arkansas, Tarionna ‘Tank’ Ball, another songwriter from the mysterious town of New Orleans, and Thao Nguyen, a Virginia songwriter.

The third and last episode of this heartfelt series will air at 9:00 PM (EST). The episode run time will be a little less than two hours, which is enough for fans to get a look into each contemporary artist’s stories.
