Soul Eater is celebrating its 20th anniversary since its debut in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in 2004, and to mark the occasion, special new artwork has been released for an upcoming exhibition.
The series, which inspired a popular anime adaptation, has remained beloved by fans, and this milestone offers a perfect opportunity to revisit its highlights.
The new art exhibition will open at Tokyo’s Space Galleria from August 23rd to September 23rd, before moving to Osaka’s Space Gratus from October 25th to November 25th, showcasing Atsushi Okubo’s work and giving characters a stylish new look.
While the original Soul Eater manga is difficult to find online legally, physical volumes are available for purchase. The anime, however, is easily accessible on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and Hulu, offering both English subtitled and dubbed options.
The anime series is described as follows: “Maka is a Meister and Soul is her Weapon, forming a powerful duo against monsters and ghouls that prey on innocent souls. Soul transforms into a razor-sharp scythe, wielded by Maka, as they fight alongside their classmates to protect the world from evil.”
Fans of Soul Eater are hopeful for a revival, especially with the anticipation building for Fire Force Season 3. A new Soul Eater anime would be a welcome surprise, given the franchise’s long hiatus.
