Ariana Grande eagerly anticipates the release of Wicked, counting down the days.
On Wednesday, the 30-year-old singer teased fans on her Instagram Stories with a silhouette photo portraying herself as Glinda the Good Witch in the forthcoming two-part film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The snapshot featured Grande in full costume, adorned in her gown and tiara, gracefully holding a scepter in her hand.
The “thank u, next” hitmaker affirmed that the countdown for the highly anticipated movies is underway, specifying that there are precisely “nine months, 26 days, [and] three hours” until the release of the first installment.
Grande shared a fan’s Instagram photo, acknowledging the “300 days until Wicked” milestone.
Grande’s posts follow a heartfelt message from co-star Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba, shared on Instagram as filming concluded last Friday.
“I’ve been trying to think of what I’d say when this day finally came, and I’m failing miserably, because honestly there aren’t enough words to fully express what this experience has meant to me, so I’ll leave you with this,” she wrote. “The universe will take things away to make space for the grand gifts it has waiting for us.”
“THIS moment, this film, these people, this cast, this crew, this director, my Glinda, were the grandest gift I could ever have asked for, and I am eternally grateful for the chance to bring you This Elphie,” Erivo, 37, added alongside a photo of her character’s shadow on a stage. “I hope when you meet her, you’ll love her as much and as fiercely as I do. And with that I say, that’s a wrap for me, Elphie out!!”
Grande posted a humorous TikTok video, capturing her and Erivo engrossed on the Wicked set. In the footage, the two actresses engaged in conversation, seemingly unaware of the nearby filming observer.
During their conversation, the camera-holder remarked on Grande and Erivo’s obliviousness, highlighting their absorbed discussions. When the actresses eventually noticed the camera, a puzzled Grande questioned the commentary. The post, labeled as one of their favorites, was filmed in 2022 during movie rehearsals.
Wicked will be released in two installments, with Wicked: Part One set to debut in theaters on Nov. 27, 2024 and Wicked Part Two slated for Nov. 26, 2025.
