Square Enix revealed a new “fan movie,” SINoALICE Ichiban Saigo no Monogatari (The Last Story), set to premiere in Japan on February 23. The film, teasing “the end of SINoALICE’s story,” follows Alice, a real-world player, as she navigates the game’s challenges, intertwining her despair and the game’s characters’ determination to confront the impending finale.
Takuto Aoki, known for the game’s manga adaptation, takes the directorial helm for the film, with ILCA handling production. The musical composition is entrusted to Keiichi Okabe and MONACA, while the original game’s cast reprise their roles.
In June 2017, Square Enix launched the SINoALICE mobile action role-playing game for iOS and Android in Japan. Pokelabo Inc. introduced the English global version in July 2020. However, Square Enix concluded the game’s service for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau in November 2022, featuring a distinctive ending that mandated players to log out permanently upon completion.

The global developer of the game, Nexon Korea Corporation, provides the following description for SINoALICE:
SINoALICE offers a chilling reinterpretation of classic fairy tales set in an unsettling dark fantasy realm, drawing inspiration from the game’s creative director, Yokō Tarō (NieR:Automata). Players guide a group of beloved fairy tale heroes as they collaborate to traverse treacherous lands, confront formidable adversaries, and unravel perplexing puzzles with the aim of reviving the storytellers who crafted their tales.
Yokō Tarō, along with Takuto Aoki, himiko, and Jino, initiated the manga adaptation of the game on Square Enix’s Manga UP! website in 2019. The manga concluded with its sixth compiled book volume on January 6. Square Enix Manga & Books obtained the license for the manga and published its fifth volume in English in November 2023.
