One of ABC’s highly-rated series, Shark Tank, will soon air a new episode filled with exciting inventions and witty products. Last week, we saw entrepreneurs come up with all sorts of things, from a one-of-a-kind children’s toy to a revolutionary garage decoration product.
As always, some of these hopeful people left with good deals, while some had to leave empty-handed. Shark Tank is inspired by a similar show that airs in Canada and is named Dragon’s Den. The format of both these series is quite similar, But needless to say, instead of sharks, there are dragons.
The first season featuring these American sharks was first seen on television on August 9th, 2009. Although it has been more than a decade, the show continues to be just as popular, leading to the launch of multiple spin-offs in other countries.
The credit for the format goes to the show Money Tigers, where investors would each listen to the entrepreneur presenting their product, and if they end up liking what they have in store, they’ll close in on a deal, with or without counter offers.
Even if the entrepreneurs don’t end up with a deal, they still receive publicity which sometimes helps their products achieve better sales. As interesting as it is, it’s no surprise that the show has won an Emmy award four different times, along with countless nominations. Through the show, viewers learn not only more about all sorts of products but also the inner workings behind a business and how appropriate deals are made.
