Shakespeare: Rise of a Genius is a three-part documentary series that can be streamed on BBC iPlayer right now. Its goal is to provide us with new perspectives on the life of history’s greatest writer.
Shakespeare: Rise of a Genius, dubbed “the centerpiece” of the BBC’s 400 Years of Shakespeare’s First Folio season, brings together scholars, authors, and an A-list cast of actors to offer a fresh perspective on Shakespeare’s amazing life story and demonstrate how a modest glover’s son from Stratford became the famous person that he was.
The show will include archive material of some of the greatest recorded renditions of the Bard’s plays, along with cinematic vignettes of the Bard’s life and contributions from its numerous guests. Anticipate the unravelling of the secrets surrounding Bard’s private life, such as his marriage to his wife and the passing of his son Hamnet, who was eleven years old at the time.

As previously mentioned, the three-part series was first made to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the First Folio’s publication, which was a collection of plays written by William Shakespeare during his lifetime.
Shakespeare: Rise of a Genius will appear considerably more like this, according to a revised BBC series synopsis. The text says as follows: “Delving deeply into the life of Shakespeare, the period and place he lived in, and the art he created, the series unveils a perilous and fascinating world full of savage rivalries, rebellion, murder, and a deadly epidemic, that kindled and nourished his creative genius.
Shakespeare’s life is portrayed in cinematic drama vignettes alongside a plethora of celebrities and scholars, such as Dame Judi Dench, Brian Cox, Adrian Lester, Lolita Chakrabarti, Helen Mirren, Martin Freeman, and Jessie Buckley; these individuals offer new perspectives on the life of our greatest writer.
Other writers and scholars who are featured include James Shapiro, Ewan Fernie, Jeanette Winterson, Brenda Hale, The Baroness Hale of Richmond, Gordon Brown, Jeremy O’Harris, and Professor Farah Karim-Cooper. Juliet Stevenson narrates the series.
Each episode traces Shakespeare’s life story, highlighting his literary achievements and failures and showing how the people and experiences he encountered influenced his writing. His plays are brought to life, and a collection of some of the greatest movie adaptations of the featured plays from throughout the globe are intercut throughout the series.”
In the dramatic vignettes that will appear throughout Shakespeare: Rise of a Genius, Daniel Boyarsky plays William Shakespeare, the main character.
Furthermore, we are aware that Béla Szomori plays Lord Henry Carey, the patron of Shakespeare’s theatre company, while Petra Lippai-Horváth portrays Queen Elizabeth I, Máte Kovács plays King James, and Gergely Máté Kiss appears as the renowned Elizabethan actor, Richard Burbage.
