Afterward, Kate meets up with John, Patrick, and Louise, and she tries to gain their help in her research. It is hard for her to convince them, so she does what Emilico would do and uses John’s soot to form a sootman. They engage very well through this, and Louise even teases Patrick for having a crush on Kate.
