The new promotional video introduces Sgt. Frog and his platoon, while also showcasing the film’s opening theme song, “Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH,” performed by singer Ano and comedian Soshina. The trailer offers fans a closer look at the upcoming Sgt. Frog film, highlighting its characters, story, and creative direction ahead of the franchise’s long-awaited return. It is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on June 26, 2026.

What the New Trailer Actually Shows

The promotional video, shared on the official YouTube channel [Official] Keroro Channel, reintroduces the core members of the Keroro Platoon, highlighting the ensemble comedy and character interactions that helped make the original 358-episode anime so popular. For fans who have not followed the franchise in years, the trailer serves as a welcoming reintroduction to the world of Sgt. Frog.

The film also introduces two new characters, Aruru and Deruru, brothers from Planet Keron who share a connection to Sgt. Frog’s platoon. Both characters are voiced by Jesse of the idol group SixTONES. Casting a well-known entertainment star in dual roles reflects the production team’s effort to broaden the film’s appeal while giving longtime fans something new to look forward to.

Who’s Joining the Cast of the New Sgt. Frog Movie?

Tomokazu Seki voices a character listed as Warrior #7; Natsuki Hanae plays an Alien; and Kōichi Yamadera takes on the role of the Space Police Chief. Idol group JO1 member Keigo Satō and FANTASTICS member Yūsei Yagi both appear as Shibuya Men, while Suzanne voices a Kumamoto Announcer, and Hinatazaka46 member Rina Watanabe plays a Shibuya Woman. Opening theme performers Ano and Soshina also appear in the film, Ano as a researcher robot, and Soshina as a “man in Shibuya.”

The Creative Team Behind the New Sgt. Frog Movie

The new Sgt. Frog movie brings together several key figures from the franchise and the anime industry. Yūichi Fukuda serves as the film’s supervising director and scriptwriter. Fumitoshi Oizaki, who previously worked as a character designer on the original Sgt. Frog TV anime and directed series such as Romeo × Juliet and Akuma Kun, is directing the film at Bandai Namco Pictures. Meanwhile, Satoshi Koike, known for his work on Etotama and Princess Connect! Re:Dive, is handling the character designs.

Alongside “Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH,” singer Ano will also contribute a second theme song for the film titled “Kashippanashi Destiny.” It is fairly rare for one artist to provide two separate theme songs for a single movie, which underscores Ano’s significant influence on the film’s musical identity and atmosphere.

A New Era for the Sgt. Frog Franchise

The new Sgt. Frog movie is just one part of a larger revival for the franchise. Alongside the film’s theatrical release, a brand-new TV anime series, Keroro Gunsō ☆, is scheduled to premiere in fall 2026. The new series will feature an entirely new voice cast, while the movie brings back many of the franchise’s longtime voice actors.

The original Sgt. Frog anime aired from 2004 to 2011, spanning 358 episodes and inspiring five theatrical films. The franchise later returned with a shorter 23-episode series that aired in 2014.

After more than a decade with no animated content, the franchise is making a major comeback. By releasing a new movie for longtime fans alongside a new TV anime series aimed at a younger audience, the creators are introducing Sgt. Frog to a new generation while celebrating its legacy for existing fans.

For those wanting to revisit the original before the new film lands, Discotek has released all 358 episodes of the earlier series across successive SD Blu-ray volumes by season, beginning in 2021. Fans who want to revisit the franchise can also watch the original Sgt. Frog anime on Crunchyroll.

Why the Sgt. Frog Comeback Matters

The return of Sgt. Frog comes at a time when many classic anime franchises are finding success with new movies and series. Fans who grew up watching the original anime between 2004 and 2011 are now adults, making them more likely to revisit a series they loved.

By bringing back the franchise with a new movie and TV anime, the creators are giving longtime fans a chance to reconnect with Sgt. Frog, while also introducing it to a new generation of viewers.
