HIDIVE is set to expand its Summer 2026 lineup with the debut of The World Is Dancing, a new historical anime centered on the origins of traditional Japanese performance art. The series will officially premiere on June 29 for viewers in the United States and Canada, according to an announcement from CyberAgent, Inc. via its official press release.
Set in 1374 during Japan’s feudal era, the anime follows a young boy named Oniyasha, who would later become the legendary Noh master Zeami. The story explores his early life and artistic awakening, focusing on how he discovers the meaning of dance and performance in a changing cultural terrain.
A rare anime exploring Noh theater and history
Unlike most seasonal anime that lean toward fantasy or action-heavy storytelling, The World Is Dancing takes a more grounded and culturally rich approach. The narrative draws inspiration from real historical figure Zeami, one of the most influential figures in Noh theater—a traditional Japanese art form known for its minimalistic staging, masks, and deeply symbolic performances.
By focusing on Oniyasha’s formative years, the series blends personal growth with the historical evolution of Noh, offering a perspective rarely explored in modern anime. This focus on cultural authenticity and artistic storytelling positions the series as a standout entry in the Summer 2026 season.
The anime features a notable voice cast, including Yumiri Hanamori, Inori Minase, and Miyuki Sawashiro. Their involvement suggests a strong emphasis on emotional storytelling and character depth, which aligns with the series’ historical and artistic themes.
Production is handled by Studio Cypic, with CyberAgent overseeing the project. Early visuals and preview cuts indicate a detailed art style that reflects the era’s aesthetics, with careful attention to costume design and performance elements inspired by traditional theater.

New ending theme and preview revealed
Alongside the premiere announcement, the production team confirmed the anime’s ending theme, “Unnamed Flower,” performed by the band hockrockb. The song is expected to complement the series’ reflective tone and thematic focus on art and self-discovery.
Additionally, new character visuals and Episode 1 preview cuts have been released through the official website, giving fans an early look at the animation and storytelling approach. The previews highlight expressive character animation and scenes rooted in performance, reinforcing the anime’s unique identity.
