Kyle Bradstreet’s Marvel series, Secret Invasion, is an action-filled spy thriller that was aired earlier this year in June. As underwhelming as its ending turned out to be, the 6-episode show did manage to introduce exciting new characters like G’iah to the MCU.
As its name suggests, the storyline of Secret Invasion centers on a secret uprising by the Skrulls against humans after Nick Fury failed to provide a good home for them. Earlier, the Skrulls were promised by Fury that they would soon get a place to call home if they helped him in his missions, but he never gave what he promised.
Now infuriated, the Skrulls appoint Gravik as their leader and plan to cause a war between countries that will kill humans and leave space for Skrulls. It’s up to Nick to come up with a way to defeat these Skrulls and finally owe up to his mistakes and relationships.
The cast of Secret Invasion is made up of Samuel L. Jackson as Fury, Emilia Clarke plays G’iah, Kingsley Ben-Adir stars in the role of Gravik, and Don Cheadle plays Raava and James Rhodes.
Secret Invasion: What Happens In The End?
Nick meets up with Priscilla one last time before heading to the radioactive unit to deal with Gravik. He obtains the Harvest and some iodide pills to help with the radiation. Meanwhile, Raava, disguised as Rhodes, is trying to make Ritson agree to call on war with Russia and start the nuclear strike.
After arriving at the place, Gravik gives Fury a long speech about how he failed to maintain his part of the deal, and now all of the deaths were going to be because of him. Gravik takes away the Harvest and loads it into the equipment, and eventually, both Nick and Gravik end up using the Harvest.
At the hospital, Nick barges in and tries to convince Ritson that the Rhodes that’s beside him isn’t even real and is just a Skrull. Ritson doesn’t listen, and Raava tries to slowly retaliate, but before she can do anything, Fury ends up killing her. Ritson finally sees that Rhodes was a Skrull all along.
Gravik soon learns that the Fury that was with him was G’iah, who now also has the same effects as the Harvest. Both of them end up in an intense battle, where they use the powers of each of the Avengers and all other characters from the MCU. However, G’iah successfully kills Gravik after vaporizing his heart.
Later, President Ritson uses his platform to inform humans about Skrulls and how they’re living disguised as people. This causes every citizen to start killing each other, assuming they’re Skrulls. Ritson failed to mention that not every Skrull is evil, causing the death of innocent Skrulls and humans.
Secret Invasion: Ending Explained
In the Secret Invasion’s ending, we see Nick Fury furious at President Ritson for making the situation with Skrulls worse. Ritson tells him that if he wants to stop all of this, getting them off the planet is better. Fury and Priscilla, who is now embracing her Skrull from Varra, set off on a journey to have a diplomatic discussion with the Kree, who are willing to let Skrulls live with them.
G’iah and Falsworth team up. This time, it’s not out of love but instead to help each other’s species attain peace in the land. After investigating, G’iah and Falsworth find out that many humans were replaced by Skrulls and held captive, including the real Rhodes, who still seems to be in a hospital gown.
Rhodes was injured in the Civil War, so there are many theories suggesting that Rhodes was trapped by the Skrulls right after the film took place. However, Skrulls were likely still on Fury’s side at that time. Ali Selim’s hints point towards the Civil War, but that would mean Rhodes missed out on some of the most major events in the MCU since then.
It would make sense if Rhodes were switched out by Raava sometime after the events of Endgame, as that can also be considered a long time ago, and he was still bleeding red at that time.
The ending shows Nick Fury finally making an effort to manage his relationship with Varra while also trying to get a good home for Skrulls, as it was his responsibility from the beginning. Falsworth and G’iah will help each other deal with widespread unrest.
Secret Invasion’s ending was a good closure for Nick Fury’s struggles, and it also helped introduce G’iah, an unbelievably strong character that’s hopefully going to be seen in many Marvel projects that take place in the future.
